Offering inner courtyard views, A Casa di Lucia is an accommodation set in Pisa, 4.5 km from Leaning Tower of Pisa and 4.9 km from Pisa Cathedral. Lucia is super supportive - she helped us with everything and especially the laye check-in. The facility is not a luxurious one, but it has everything needed for a night or two. It's very close to the airport -6-7 min walking distance. What's more - at the room we were provided with a coffee machine, some snacks and milk for breakfast - given the fact that it wasn't included such in the price of the room. Towels, hair dryer, everything was well equipped. Walking distance to the railway station - 30 min. So, I strongly recommend it.
Valentina was a great host. She welcomed us and showed everything we know. She offered pushbikes for us to use which was a nice surprise. At our check out, she gave us lift to bus stop which was so helpful cz its about 15mins walk and our bags was heavy and was too hot to walk. She may needed to go in town anyway but she waited for us which was kind. Definitely recommend this place to stay if you want to be a little out of town.
Gets very crowded around the "Leaning Tower" area so arrive early before the groups arrive. Buy your ticket once you get there as entry to the tower is timed and limited to numbers at anyone time. Food is not great near the Tower. I suggest walking away from the area for about 10 minutes where the restaurants are less crowded and better food. You pay about 1 euro extra for a cold drink from the fridge in the main supermarkets (Carrefour express/Pam) Go to the little shops where it's cheaper. And DON'T FORGET to validate your bus ticket once you get on the bus even if you have brought your ticket from the driver. Machine is located at the front of the bus. If you don't its a 43 euro fine. The inspectors are sometimes already on the bus sat at the back.
A really lovely town with a nice pace of life. Never too packed or busy but with a nice vibrant buzz at the same time. Great for it's own attractions - the tower is quite beautiful, as well as the cathedral etc. The botanical gardens are definitely worth a relaxed visit, and loads of good places to eat or have coffe or gelato. Also ideal location for daytrips to Lucca or Cinque Terre, or even Florence.
I didnt´know what to expect outside of the tower but I really was a big surprise how beautiful the city is. I love the variety of different restaurants and the history. I would absolutely advice people to visit Pisa
An important piece of Italian history. The Tower of Pisa goes to show how a faulty piece of architecture can be marketed with great success. The area is spotlessly clean, with plenty of excellent choices for dining, souvenir purchase and other shopping.
Pisa, in my opinion, only has two things: the tower and the airport. The Leaning Tower is worth a visit, but it's best to combine the visit with your arrival or departure date from Italy. Or, if you rent a car, you can visit the nearby towns and return to Pisa for the night. But don't waste more than one day in Pisa.
