The make every effort to make you feel welcome and your stay as wonderful and possible! It gives a fairly unique home stay feel which we really loved. We stayed in a simple but comfortable and clean bungalow. There is a great eating area and place to relax at the river. The food was all delicious! We rented kayaks and had a beautiful paddle into one of the tributaries and then finished off swimming in the natural hot spring a short paddle from Casa Maya.

We spent almost a month in Guatemala and this was by far the MOST amazing stay and like a mini slice of heaven! The owners are extremely friendly. My husband and I enjoyed the food, amazing lake views, fishing, kayaking, wildlife, and the fun boat ride with their dog. The Villa exceeded our expectations and I wish we stayed more time.

All of their workers there are super nice, have a nice smile and they make everything happen that you feel super nice there. The standard of everything there is just higher than in any other hotel we have been so far in Guatemala. If it comes to the shower, bathroom, bed or any other facilities, it’s just great! Also the small details! And the best thing is really as already mentioned the staff there. This is one of the hotels where you will say in a few years, remember the „El Viajero“ in rio dulce, and you‘ll immediately remember which one it was.

Wonderful hotel right on the waterfront with a view of the castle. The building is very nice and well maintained. The staff is very helpful. Enrique is the best. The menu is simple but suitable for a few days. Rio Dulce is a 5-minute boat ride away. The sunset is amazing.

Offering an outdoor swimming pool and a restaurant, Amatique Bay Hotel is located in Izabal, 30 minutes' boat ride from Punta de Palma. WiFi access is available in this resort for free. I loved the horse-riding and the swimming pool. The sunsets from the beach were stunning. The reception staff were very caring & helpful with my onward journey. Very handy having the laundry service and great to have a lovely hot shower after staying in hostels. Great size pool.
