The view! The hotel restaurant is pricey (10% tip included) but it's super nice, good steak, and the employees were super nice. 1st real hot shower in Costa Rica! It's close enough to La Fortuna (30 min), but not too close. Very quiet. You do not need a 4x4 to get here, like I read in some reviews, if you are coming from La Fortuna, you just need to pay attention to the potholes.

The story of the owners is amazing. You can feel the passion which they put in creating the Nepenthe. The view from the apartment and from the pool is amazing. From there we visit La fortuna, Hot springs and Arenal 1968. It is very peaceful place to stay.

This really is a great spot. We had a family room and though relatively simple was bigger than expected comfortable and great for a few days. The property is outstanding. Tucked away so beautifully quite. A great contrast to the main town of La Fortuna. Makes a mild challenge for eating out but the staffs recommendations were great. The trails are where this place really shines. Outstanding rainforest. Dense, no one else around. Paths the right level of challenge without being too much.

The view of the volcano, especially for sunrise, is the absolute highlight of the property! Outstanding is also the attention of the caretaker, very lovely man who is always there to help. The facilities are basic but clean. Clear and helpful instructions about reaching the place and parking our car were given to us prior to arrival. An absolutely great deal for what we paid and it even included a yummy typical breakfast. We absolutely recommend it for adventurous budget-conscious travelers!

Great location! Sergio and Katia were incredible and Sergio booked every activity for us. The room was very clean (but quite small) and our bed was made every day. The bathroom was shared with other guests and was also cleaned everyday. Great quality for the price, we would book there again!
