This us an authentic Japanese experience. Only hearty guests should book as there is a steep climb up a hill to the guest rooms. The small onsen in the downstairs area was exceptional. Kaito was charming and informative and cooked a delicious dinner. Ecu and Katzoo were very helpful guiding us from the bus stop and bringing our belongings to our room. We are much appreciative of the kind hospitality and genuine warmth we were shown. Once we learned the route we were able to easily take the bus from Kure to the correct Takesu stop.

Location is easy to find as you just have to follow the main road to find it, it is on the 4th floor and the host is the owner of the Takoyaki shop on the first floor. The bedroom unit is very spacious and clean with personal lockers, bath and face towels are provided daily. There is a washing & drying machine for 100/200円 in the toilet. The opposite guest unit consists of the lounge for eating and general relaxation in addition to the showering room.

A unique self-catering experience which includes the added attraction of the adjacent H F Royce Museum which has a small (18 vehicles) but interesting collection of Rolls-Royce and Bentley motor cars - a must for car enthusiasts. Indeed, the 'quality' element of the cars is reflected in the accommodation - illuminated with Swarovski crystal chandeliers, equipped with fine Noritake and Wedgwood china, not to mention the latest Panasonic washlet toilets. Sasakojima Cottages is an unusual destination, I think, for European visitors to Japan as it is a bit off the beaten track but it has a lovely location fronting onto a beautiful bay looking southward to the Inland Sea and multiple islands. If you are looking to chill, this is the place but you will most probably need to hire a vehicle to get out and about. It provides excellent self-contained accommodation (we stayed for nearly two weeks) and as there is not too much choice in the way of nearby eateries, you will most probably want to do a daily shop for food. That said, Sasakojima Cottages has a very good lunchtime only restaurant. Opened earlier in 2022, Sasakojima Cottages clearly caters for Japanese visitors stopping for only one or two nights. I would encourage the extraordinary owner or manager to pack a bag and stay for three or four nights on a purely self-catering basis to fully realise the potential of this beautifully-located and unique venue.

Such a perfect stay in Hiroshima. This spotless place exceeded our expectations and made our stay extremely comfortable. This property has been well thought out and includes everything you need. Yukata pyjamas, plenty of towels, amenities such as earplugs and drip coffee, slippers, washing machine with detergent, soaps and shampoo, bidet toilet, pans and pots, dishes, microwave, mini grill oven, TV, vacuum cleaner, umbrella, veranda, clothes spray, iron... I'm not sure I've ever seen a more complete place, and it far outperforms a hotel in terms of price, comfort, amenities, and location. It's a short walk from the "main" areas and food, and plenty of delicious options in streets around the building. Not that it's a major problem in Japan, but feels very secure with double entrance doors (with code). There is also a 7-Eleven opposite the building, and a supermarket is a 15-minute walk. We stayed for one week and it was perfect for nights spent indoors. I honestly couldn't have asked for more. Highly recommended, particularly if in a group. Thank you! Will most certainly return here when visiting Hiroshima again!

This was the best accommodation we stayed at during our entire Japan trip! The apartment is huge and clean, great location, super easy check in and has everything you need during your stay. It has two double beds and big living room with a sofa bed. Can easily fit 4 people. 10/10!
