Thank you very much to the hotel owner for their warm hospitality! I traveled by bike in Japan for 3 months and booked 70 hotels in advance. I couldn't help staying here for an extra night. Although it was worth wasting the expenses of the last three hotels to catch up with the itinerary. The open landscape, peaceful temples, traditional architecture, and the warmth of the owner all make people experience the true meaning of "Japan". We enjoyed everything about this lovely, small ryokan. Almost no English is spoken here as very few western tourists visits. Google Translate was a life saver. The owner is incredibly friendly and helpful. Our room was large and our private onsen was amazing! Both dinner and breakfast were ample and delicious. We took full advantage of our time here and had a wonderful stay. Parking is easy and the location is great - not far from Kumamoto. Perfect for a one-night, special stay.

We had a wonderful stay at Sumitsugu House. The owner was very friendly and introduced us on the facilities in great details. Location is good, just about 8-10min walking from the Kumamoto station. Garden is beautiful day and night. Perfect place to fully experience the traditional Japanese house.

The location was excellent as it was only 10 minutes walk from Kumamoto Station. The apartment was super clean with comfortable bed. My wife and I loved an extra room above the bedroom where we could do stretch or simply relax. The bathroom has a heater function with a cloth hanging pole, so the clothes will dry out perfectly overnight. Surprisingly, it was very peaceful and quiet at night despite being very close to the main station in Kumamoto. There are plenty of good places to eat inside Kumamoto Station. It was a wonderful stay!!
