The golden Lion is situated very close to Hadrian’s Wall, making it ideal for a quick visit. The rooms are big and well presented, and the staff are amazing. The food is exactly what you want after a long walk or drive. Excellent quality and plenty of it. The breakfast options are superb. All in all, this place is well worth a visit. Just a shame I was only there for one night. Can recommend enough.

The location was perfect for our plan to explore Hadrian’s wall. Our hosts were knowledgeable about the location and amenities and helped us secure dinner reservations as well as giving us directions to the local interesting locations.     The bed was very comfortable and in a very big bedroom. The bathroom is also large and great size shower. The whole place was very clean and a small welcome gift was awaiting our arrival. The Boatside Inn, very popular but amazing service and food

    The staff were lovely. The room was well equipped and very clean. Quiet, peaceful location but close to Hadrians Wall sights / museums which was the purpose of our trip. Lovely to be able to relax in the evening in the pub bar. Had an excellent evening meal and terrific breakfast. All in all a lovely choice for what we needed.

    The ambience of the building and exceptional food. Good selection of real ale and friendly locals made our stay very memorable. Would go for a return visit. Ideal location for our stay as it was central to area we were visiting.
