The location is perfect. It's just 10 meters from Kawayu onsen. The dinner was really tasty and the staff is super friendly. Moreover, there are two free private onsens indoor. This is a small cozy guesthouse and a wonderful place to rest after a long hiking day.

Very cozy spot on the river bank. Ease of access to kumano kodo trail. We did the Hongu loop trail leaving from here, hiking to Hongu-taisha, then bus to Yunomine Onsen, and then hike the rest of the loop from there. Awesome experience!

A beautiful property, traditional style cedar floor and walls, very comfortable and relaxing space. Eco conscious ownership with a great compostable toilet system, which was very hygienic. It’s set in a great location for visiting Onsens, walking trails and exploring the area. Convenient location to the supermarket and bus stop.

Very homely feeling during our stay in Hongu. Mandy not only made us feel welcome but looked after and took us around as if we were family. She also went out of her way to organise a taxi to find us when we got lost during our hike - without her I am not sure what would've happened. Both home prepped meals were amazing, and the acupuncture service was extremely professional. We really enjoyed this authentic Japanese homestay experience and hope to be back soon!

    Incredibly good value. Lovely family who run it, who helped massively on when the bus times were. Ideal location next to the river hot springs. Breakfast was very tasty and the dinner was great too. Favourite place I stayed at during my two week trip to Japan. Shared bathrooms was basically like a private bathroom as only a few rooms.

    We loved our stay at Takiyoshi. The food, service and location is ideal. We stayed on our 2nd day of walking the Kumano Kodo Trail and it was the tranquil stay we needed. The food was especially amazing, it was always ready on time and so fresh! The breakfast was huge and delicious and set us up for another day of walking the Kumano Kodo Trail. The staff were so attentive and did some lovely little touches that made our stay feel special.

    Great location and nice friendly and helpful staff. Bus stop outside. Lovely river with thermal pools just across the road. Peaceful. 2 very clean private onsens inside property included in price. Great restaurant 100m down the road.(Ate there 3 nights in a row. )

    Beautiful location beside a river which is great for a swim on a warm day. Really pleasant and welcoming and helpful staff. Breakfast was good. Private bath was nice and the traditional Japanese showers were warm. Very clean throughout
