I reserved gesthouse rooms with shared bathroom (because no other room left) and I had my doubts. But the reality exceeded my expectations. Small but cozy room, comfortable bad, linens, towels like in 5* hotel, bath rooms are like 5*hotel too. In addition, you have a shared kitchen. Instead, we tryed the hotel restaurant and enjoyed it very much. The spa is superb!!! Don't miss it! We had a discount for spa about 17%. Sea view was wonderful, like TV with wild sea life podcast just outside your windows. Lots of seabirds! Puffings lookout just 5 min drive away.

Jökla Guesthouse is a recently renovated guest house in Skjöldólfsstaðir, where guests can make the most of its garden and terrace. This guest house features free private parking, a shared kitchen and free WiFi. The guest house provides a shared lounge. There are 4 or 5 upstairs rooms, 2 upstairs bathrooms. Downstairs there is a communal kitchen, two dining room areas, living room space and 1/2 bathroom with washing machine and dryer when you can use as part of your stay. Kitchen is very well equipped for cooking and includes an espresso room if you fancy a coffee. The interior is very nicely decorated and is quite comfortable, a nice change of pace after a week of staying in our camper van. Bathrooms are spacious, showers were great. We found our room to be quite comfortable as well. Bed mattresses lean towards firm, good amount of space for luggage and hanging jackets and a few clothing items. Small work desk with chair, bedside tables, plenty of electric outlets and windows to let light into the room.

Hengifosslodge Tiny Houses in Egilsstadir provides adults-only accommodation with a private beach area and a garden. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about our stay in the Hengifoss lodge. It's a dream to stay here. Once entered you're greeted by the warm smell of ember caused by the wood that was used to make this house. The colours and the layout of the room is incredibly cosy. The fireplace keeps the house (almost too) warm, and the window + terrace give an exceptional view over the lake and mountains. The hosts are also amazing and gave us the feeling that we're not only welcome, but also that they really understand why we chose to go to Iceland. We asked for help with our fireplace and the host, Isabelle, came to the rescue. She tried to help us to lit a fire but to no avail. We did however have a really good conversation. However when she left, we were content enough. Yet still she knocked on the door and winked us to come over. She told us enthusiastically that the Northern Lights were dancing and fully visible, we had to come outside! The next morning it was kind of raining, a little bit. But the sun was also shining through the clouds. The husband, Steff, called me when I was standing on the terrace. He said: "There is a rainbow there!" and pointed towards slightly behind the house I was standing in front of. I walked to the side and indeed saw a beautiful rainbow. This might not say much to other people wanting to stay there. But to me it feels like these people have such a connection with Iceland, its beauty and understand that we are there for the same connection, they told us to look at beautiful views which Iceland offers, and we were delighted to follow their guidance. Thank you Isabelle and Steff, for the warm welcome. Whenever we're in Iceland and planning to go near Eggs, we will definitely make use of your beautiful little houses.
