The Unesco World Heritage area was just a short walk away. Lawson as well as a few restaurants were also a short walk away. Highly recomended to base out off in Nikko for a hiking trip...

As a typical traditional house, it is poorly insulated and may take a while to warm up on cold days but there is AC in several rooms and other types of room heaters are available as well. The bathtub is amazing and even supports reheating the water so that it can easily be used by several people consecutively. For exploring the surrounding area, a car is highly recommended.

A great, spacious house in East Tokyo, very close to trains that can get you anywhere you need easily via connections from the Keisei-Ueno and Keisei-Narita lines. Lots of sleeping arrangement options and great facilities in the house. The host communication was fantastic. There are many nearby amenities including combini in every direction, low cost supermarkets, lots of restaurants up the Ohanajaya Promenade, etc etc. Modern toilets and comfortable beds. All you'd want in somewhere to stay really.

The proprietor Kieren is Australian. He is really tied into the local culture. Mentioning his name and flashing his business card brought big smiles and compliments, and discounts a local ski resorts, hot springs, and restaurants.Casual informal atmosphere at the lodge, and a very nice bar / taproom in the main downstairs area, with a nice central woodstove. We felt like family. Kieran's assistant Nanna was also super friendly and engaging to talk to.
