Tongariro Crossing Lodge was a great place to stay for our family (parents, 2 adult daughters). Our main purpose was to do the Tongariro Alpine Crossing the next day. However, after consulting with Louis (owner) and looking at the predicted cloud cover, we opted to delay the hike an extra day Louis kindly suggested alternative shorter hikes/activities near by, which were very enjoyable. Louis had also reserved spots for us on the shuttle (to/from hike) but upon our arrival and discussion, we decided to drive ourselves to the carpark which ended up being a good idea since the day we hiked was extremely cloudy, not clearing up until about 1pm. Driving ourselves allowed us to be flexible and enjoy the stunning views for another hour instead of rushing back to make the 5:30pm shuttle. In addition to the room (ours was newly renovated), you could also pay for a continental breakfast and sack lunch which Louis brought to our room the night before the hike. Very convenient and yummy!! Lodge was also within walking distance of restaurants (two that we ate at had great views of mountains, sunset) and small store. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay - perfect for us :). Louis was also very responsive prior to our trip, answering my many questions.

Our hosts David & Sue were very friendly and helpful. We requested dinner for the evening which was a lovely home cooked meal. We had a great time that evening, enjoying their company. Breakfast was lovely. Must also mention Ash the dog who loves to walk with you.

That says it all! Our hosts were just gems. Fresh homemade crumpets in the fridge added to the magic. The spa was divine, the view stunning, the place incredible. THANK YOU!!!

They did everything they could to make us feel comfortable. The hotel has all facilities you can need, especially if you are long distance cycling as we were. The studios are cosy, comfortable and well equipped. Everything is modern, very clean and functioning The hotel is not far from the center. It was perfect for us. Thanks a lot 🙂

The cabin was new and beautifully furnished. Had all the faculties we needed and was close to town. Would recommend to anyone wanting to stay in the area.

Gondwana Chalet perfect for all seasons se nachází v destinaci Ohakune a nabízí patio, zahradu a bezplatné Wi-Fi. Turoa se nachází 17 km daleko. The chalet was warm, user friendly, plenty of space as a family to relax and enjoy, fire created lovely atmosphere and warmth. Perfect post a day on ski fields.

Hosts provided excellent and easy to access information about the property and the surrounding area. Wish we could have stayed longer.
