The seclusion of the cabin amongst the garden/trees and the excellent keypad locking arrangements meant that we didn't see anyone: owners or the occupants of the neighbouring lodge during our stay so it felt like we were in the middle of nowhere even though we knew the owners were closeby and easy to contact. Also, thoughtful little details, like the excellent Big Island travel guidebook in the cabin. Also, the filtered rainwater was delicious!

We stayed at the Lodge for 3 nights and fall in love immediately. The staff was very friendly, the room was absolutely cute and perfectly cleaned and the dinner at the Lodge was excellent (you should try the Volcanoes wine made in the area!). Drinking water and parking were for free. The location was great, since we were there for hiking in the Volcanoes National Park, which is only 5-10 mins drive away. You can use the fire place in the common area for free and enjoy a relaxing evening. There is no TV in the room, which we loved. Time to talk and read a book. A rain forest nature trail belongs to the Lodge's area as well.

The property looks a dated from the outside but it is beautiful on the inside. We loved the fresh banana bread and fruit for breakfast. Very close to the volcanoes. As we were having breakfast another family told us the volcano had started erupting that morning so we raced down to see it.

It was hidden away in a quiet location but close to cafes where had a pleasant meal. It was well located after spending the day in the National park

I spent 3 nights at Carolina's accomodation. A small farm with lots of chickens, two dogs and two goats and a small herb garden. You can hear the dogs barking at night (earplugs are available) but also the crickets, which doesn't bother me at all. Who can't love the sound of nature? I have read through the other reviews and cannot understand the negative ones at all. The description of the accommodation and the pictures are clear. The bed is too high? If the bed were lower, you wouldn't be able to see the sea and the sunrise. It's also very practical because you can store your suitcases and bags under the bed. As a woman, the outdoor shower didn't bother me at all. Who is supposed to stare? The animals? By the way, there is a shower curtain. You can't expect luxury accommodation for this price, but this one serves its purpose perfectly (I was out all day and only stayed there overnight). The location is also perfectly fine, a quiet neighborhood (except the dogs), but not isolated. If you don't like animals and don't like the countryside, then you shouldn't book this accommodation. It's terrible how some people here rate Carolina and her accommodation. There are always things that you don't like, but then to leave a review that is below the belt is really not right. Carolina is a very warm and welcoming person who is wonderful with her animals and has some great tips. I would be happy if I had her in my neighborhood😊
