The Jardine Secretos Lodge is a spectacular lodge tucked away in the mountains and close to the Cloudbridge Nature Reserve. The room we had was the original owners house, all wood interior, 2 bedrooms, an a terrific porch with rocking chairs and a great view of the landscaping. It was a very charming house, the lodge even had a bottle of complimentary wine waiting for us. The Lodge had a very eclectic dining area, wonderful lighting and decorations for the Christmas holiday (or appropriately decorated for the next holiday), and the property was designed and built making a truly wonderful landscape and facilities. The secret garden walk was especially impressive, the amount of work and love that went into making this walking garden tour was nothing but magical for the variety and number of plants in the design. All right on the property too. The staff was extremely friendly and informative of their lodge and advice on the local attractions.

The place is an ideal starting point for the Cerro Chirripo hike. Parking your car here while you are on the hike is allowed at no extra charge which is definitely a plus. It was possible to adjust the time of breakfast so that we could make an early start. The rooms are simple, but good size and the beds are comfortable. Washing machine was not mentioned in the description, but there is one and we could have our laundry done for a reasonable price.

We stayed in the deluxe waterfront bungalow, which is at a separate location from the rest of the hotel. Their restaurant was closed during our stay so we didn't have dinner, and didn't want breakfast so we spent very little time on the hotel grounds. My review is thus for the bungalow only. That review is...wow!! This building and property was absolutely stunning. It's a beautiful and rustic log cabin, and it's RIGHT next to the river so you have a view you'll never tire of, and hear the rushing sound of water everywhere. And the entry to the property is gated so there's simply no one else around you. They even provided wood to build a fire in the built-in fire pit on the deck. It's like your own private riverside paradise!
