Reviews we read of Shkoder said it's a university town with lots of biking. Not sure what those reviewers were writing about, but there weren't many bike friendly areas and the town was not as vibrant as we expected. We did spend some time in the Shiroka area on the lake a 10 minute or so drive from Shkoder and that was very nice - good restaurants and lake activities. Shkoder is a lovely city with great views, food and nice accommodation facilities. It's a safe place for families and youths with lots of activities around. We really enjoyed our time in Shkoder.
We really enjoyed our time in Shkoder. I liked how there was plenty to do and see in town, and also very close to Theth which is a must see. We also booked a tour of the Shalla River and that was beautiful too! The thing that was challenging was riding on the local buses that don’t always have good air conditioning and are full with passengers in the summer months.Guest review byMcMellen

We were greeted by very friendly and warm staff. Throughout our stay, we felt just like at home. The staff were very caring and kind. Breakfast was hearty and delicious. Staff and lovely and really helpful. The property itself is really well refurbished and kept clean. The dorm beds are spacious, comfy and feel private. Backyard is a dream. Plus, it’s my first hotel in Albania where the shower is separated from the rest of the bathroom by a glass door, so you won't get everything wet.
