This is not just a nice and small boutique hotel, it is actually a total (and brilliant) concept! Very well thought trough and implemented! Amazing location right at the lake, great design immediately making you feel at home and relaxed; and wonderful staff trying to do everything to make you feel at home. Good and honest food and drinks (breakfast and some dishes for lunch; drinks and snacks at the Honesty Bar). I was also very happy with the charger for my car (Austria is still lagging behind in this respect).

Staff was very nice to us, they helped with everything what we needed. We had so delicate diners. The room was cleaned and we had everyday cleaning service. We appreciate the large parking spot opposite of the hotel. Because of sleeping time of our young baby at the same time as dinner time the staff brought us the dinner in the evening to our room when we ask for it. It was really helpful atd we could enjoy our stay. Moreover this hotel has a terrace and you can enjoy your breakfast with beautiful lake view. For us 10/10.

The location is perfect for relaxation, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The staff is very friendly, the rooms are clean and spacious with balconies, and the breakfast buffet is fantastic – everything you could wish for was available. The food was also excellent.

We arrived at the accommodation later than originally...

We arrived at the accommodation later than originally planned. A quick message via Booking.com letting us know we'd be there around 10 pm meant Theresa still greeted us and was very friendly 🤗. The hosts also gave us some great tips the next day about the Christmas markets in the area. We'd love to come back again. Family Uchtmann, Lower Franconia

The village lies at the end of a long valley, a good starting point for hiking, but with steep climbs immediately. Due to its valley location (with steep slopes), it doesn't get sun all day. The nearest shops are in the neighboring village of Faistenau. However, there are several decent restaurants in the village center.

The walk around Hintersee is beautiful.

The walk around Hintersee is beautiful. The village documents the life of Joseph Mohr, composer of "Silent Night." There are countless hiking trails starting directly from the village. The people are exceptionally friendly, warm, and welcoming.

The staff and facilities were great. The chalet was absolutely wonderful for our family. Attention detail and the highest comfort was attained by DAS Hintersee. Breakfast was plentiful and a pleasure to dine on the terrace. Dinner from the menu card was exceptional. We will return… a wonderful getaway, without all the tourists around the big lakes in the area.
