We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The room was modern, new, and very clean. The bathroom and shower were excellent, and the towels and bed linen were perfect. There was a coffee machine with two capsules and even a small bottle of wine in the fridge, all included in the price. The room also had a kitchen, which was very convenient. It's located right in the city center. Everything was great – highly recommended!

Really nice and clean accommodation. We had the opportunity to check in earlier which was really helpful. Even after the check out there was the possibility to leave our luggage there. The hotel was nice with a good distance to the city center and the staff were nice and helpful.

The place is very clean and neat. The room is very cosy, the bed is comfortable. Though the counter is closed due to our late arrival, there is staff that we could find to explain to us about the check in. There is parking space for us. Highly recommended.

FAQs about hotels in Linz

Vibrant Cultural Hub with Steely Dedication

Surrounded by lush mountains, Linz is on the Danube River, and although known for industry, has become a vibrant cultural hub. It was an important centre of the Holy Roman Empire and Emperor Friedrich III lived in the castle.

The old town centres on Main Square, site of the Christmas market and elaborate Trinity Column. St Martin’s Church is Austria’s oldest, and the largest is the new cathedral, much more elaborate than the old cathedral. On the surrounding streets are shops, restaurants and much of Booking.com’s Linz accommodation, including luxury city centre hotels and cheap guest houses near the train station.

A riverside park contains the Lentos modern art museum, colourfully lit at night. The excellent arts scene also encompasses the Linzer Landestheater, Brucknerhaus concert hall and the Ars Electronica Center which hosts its own festival.

The Design Center Linz event venue is near the industrial powerhouse – the Voestalpine steelworks, whose tour showcases the factory once supervised by Hermann Göring. A more chilling World War II reminder is Mauthausen concentration camp to the south-east.

Across the river are Johannes Kepler University and Pöstlingberg mountain, ascended by a tram that passes the zoo. At the top are a viewing platform, church and the children’s Grotto Railway, and south-west is Linz Blue Danube Airport.

Linz is an industrial and admin centre on the (definitely not blue) Danube river . Small airport with (as at July 2025) 2 flights a week from London STN. Pedestrianised town centre with a mix of old and new architecture gives no clue that the pleasant clean town has an active steel works. No special tourist draw but a reasonable base for touring and onward travel, Large Danube cruise ships stop at Linz but most passengers are sent to Salzburg by coach and make minimal contribution to the Linz economy.

Linz is a small town and unless you plan on visiting other towns around or some hiking don't expect to be entertained for multiple days. The fact that it is a small town has its upsides. There is no rush and overall the city center is rather quiet compared to bustling metrolises of Europe.

The art gallery is very good.

The art gallery is very good. Everybody should experience a tram ride up to the Grottenbahn - it's not just for children. There is an excellent transport service. Be sure to get a Linz Pass so that you can use it for travel & discounts at various places. Josef is a good restaurant in a nice setting.

Definitely we recommend visiting the following places - Pöstlingberg (especially when taking the Pöstlingberg tram to get there) - Tour of the plant - voestalpine Stahlwelt - Castle museum - Mariendom - Old town - Jindrak Cafe - Restaurant Tante Kaethe on the bank of Danube river And we visited Linz just in time to have the opportunity to see the fireworks over the river - amazing experience :)

Linz is very nice city in Upper Austria (its capital) with many good preserved baroque buildings. Its perfect destination for art lovers - the city is dedicated to all kind of arts - music, theatre, galleries etc. Linzer Dom (city cathedral) is in my opinion the most beautiful building in city. I have also enjoyed traditional austrian cuisine - I would recommend Keintzel, Stiegl-Klosterhof and Johanns by Winkler. The main reason of my visit was the Christmas market - it was very nice, many nice souvenirs a gifts but I had missed traditional craftsmen like blacksmiths, carpenters or tailors etc. I think that Linz its a nice destination but I think the best option is to make a longer trip to Upper Austria and visit also some of lakes or Kalkalpen national park.

A bit of a boring city to be honest.

A bit of a boring city to be honest. I went to see a concert here. First time to Linz but the city is nothing major. Maybe in the summer it has more charm but from what i experienced it was boring, and one thing i noticed was a lot of smokers. Like... a lot of them. To me it was very annoying. Crowded main street...not very clean. Not much to do in the city. Im sure when there is an even the main square might get interesting, but now when nothing was happening it was very dull. I would not come to this city for a vacation for sure :) sorry. 3 out of 10 for me.

Leonardo Boutique Hotel Linz is a wonderful place to stay. It’s located just a few steps from the city’s main street, surrounded by plenty of shops, restaurants, and cafés. Getting there from the railway station is super easy — just take the tram, and it drops you nearby. The facilities are modern, spotless, clean and very comfortable (as you would expect in Austria 😊). The staff is extremely kind, responsive, and always ready to help. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Linz!

The hotel is perfect for a transit stop if you are travelling between Italy & Germany. It is close to the motorway and has a secure underground garage for €16. The rooms are comfortable with a good bed and excellent hot shower. The restaurant has excellent food and all the staff provided great service. You can also go for a nice walk along the river which is nearby. The hotel is not in the centre of Linz but overall we could not fault it as a great stop.

Super good and quiet location - just 10 min walk from the train station, and right at the edge of historical city center. Room was not very big, but there was enough place for 2 beds, a sofa, and a table with chairs. Very clean. Mattresses were hard enough to enjoy the sleep (in some other places in Austria mattresses were too soft).
