The check-in was easy because the restaurant was open and the proprietor was on the premises. I got a room with a balcony and I could enjoy the afternoon sunshine from there. The food in the restaurant is excellent (try the "käsespätzle!) and the locally brewed bier is fantastic. They even have an alcohol-free version! I was just driving through but I am sure that the place and the surroundings would be worth a longer stay. The place is not so far from the motorway but still in the middle of nature, outside the village of Pettenbach.

Excellent place to stop by if you drive late and need to go early in the morning to drive further. Has Burger King next to it, as a breakfast option. Also, electric car charging stations, carwash and gas station which seemed to be open all night. Snacks downstairs. Contactless check-in, can check-in any time, late check out makes it convenient if you sleep late.

Very nice hotel located on the hill under the forest. lady at reception spoke english, german and polish - she was very friendly and explained us all arrangements. hotel served dinner with buffet system - this is the one the only point i'm not fully satisfied - the quality of dinner (i find) is not so high. breakfast was good. hotel bar served good beers from local ones to selected german ones.

The place was impeccable and the hostess was friendly and very accommodating. We arrived before 10am as we were going to a family gathering and our room was ready for us. The room was pristine and the beds were clean, comfortable and very inviting!! There was a big variety of food for Breakfast and you could eat until your heart’s content; again the hostess was very attentive towards all the guests. We would come back to this hotel again.

Our accommodation was in a beautifully renovated historic building. The furnishings were charming and practical. The area around Pettenbach and Scharnstein is a great starting point for exploring the Almtal valley, and the "Grüne Erde" (Green Earth) region is right next door. Gmunden and Lake Traunsee are just a short drive away.

It was the ideal starting point for our zoo visits (Linz Zoo, Walding Wildlife Park, Schmiding Zoo and Cumberland Wildlife Park Grünau in the Almtal valley). Had we had more time, we would have loved to also visit Lake Traunsee and the Agrarium.
