We didn't eat out much as accomodation had a very well equipped kitchen. Public transport was punctual and free with a Sommer Card provided by our hosts. All lift passes that we used were free also. The only cost was a booking fee for getting up to the Schladming Galcier. (PREPARE TO QUE FOR THIS ONE). Be aware that shops are closed for religious holidays etc.Guest review byFitzpatrick - 8.0

Schladming is not interesting place, but the surroundings - yes. You can find a lot of attractions like ferrara, wander wegs, cycle routes, even rafting and places obligatory to visit: Dachstein Glacier, Planai, Reiter Alm (all supported by lifts). I enjoyed the area but it was hard to find information about ski schools or guides online. We had some beginners with us and they were unable to ski the icier slopes at the bottom of the hill. I would have signed up for a guide/instructor for them if I was able to get more information. Also need more non ski activities in the area. A wonderful family resort in the east of the alps.
A wonderful family resort in the east of the alps. Great for beginners. Lots of blue & red runs. Great night time sledging. Loads of restaurants on the mountains with very friendly service. Ski area consist of 4 hills to 1.800m, so everyone can find the slope which is fitting to him. On the hills, there was a pretty lot of restaurants or bars. There was a free parking place to leave a care in and drive with the lift directly to the entrance. When parking outside, you can put your skies on and by the snow go directly to the entrance to buy a tickets. Parking place was on asphalt so no dirt. In case you are there for a skiing holiday, the bus stops right in front of the hotel to take you to the slopes. The hotel is modern and clean, the personnel is very friendly and helpful. The kitchen is outstanding, breakfast and dinner are excellent with a nice variety of wine and spirits - it is worth trying the home-made Schnaps. Bus stop short walk away for getting up to Rohrmoos, into Schladming or to Planai main gondola. Once we worked out a few things (ski locker in room marked Privat off main Skiroom, need to collect a keycard from reception each day to use the Pool/Sauna) the facilities were ideal for our needs. Bus stops to the town and to the ski school were 1- 2mins walk. The night bus operates from Tuesday- Saturday. The apartment was clean and spacious. The bathrooms and showers were particularly good.
