THis facility is EXCELLENT!!! What a dream of a place to relax and vacation. Mother Nature provided rain for many days but we were comfortable, well taken are of and enjoyed the clean indoor pool and sauna. Gorgeous grounds, fantastic breakfast and afternoon "Kaffee und Kuchen" with delights backed by Margareta (the owner) herself. This is a family operated hotel and restaurant and we were truly spoiled. They all went above and beyond helping us (when our rental car would not start), catered to our needs for our 93 year old mother and were always kind, friendly and accommodating. The restaurant on the property called the Mostschenke im Heustadl and provides a five star Austrian experience in dining. The family has been on this property since the 1600's and have up-dated and built the hotel in the last ten - twelve years. The Mostschenke is the renovated cattle barn and it a delightful venue for dining. The Hotel is clean, bright and the two bedroom chalet suite is a dream for a family vacation. You will love staying with the Familie Steinkogler!! We thank them for a wonderful experience. Heidi, Lisa and Ria

Top location, room overlooking the lake, exactly as the photos. Clean, spacious & quiet, had a good night sleep. Front desk Juliana was super lovely and sweet, gave us lots of information about what to see, where to eat, coffee and cakes..Really enjoyed Konditorei Grellinger cream-rolls, the best ever pastry !! Breakfast was good quality. Spar supermarket was below, I could buy some chocolate & bonbons conveniently ;-) We recommend the hotel and we too hope to be back again. See you Juliana :-)

In November you do not have much to do there.

In November you do not have much to do there. We found only on restaurant and one café house open, nothing else. I did not get why any (zero!) souvenir shop is not existing there - I am sure tourists would appreciate to buy some small souvenirs and support the local business by doing this.

Very lovely small little town at the lake, it has plenty...

Very lovely small little town at the lake, it has plenty restaurants with amazing views of the lake and mountains. Suitable for family with small kids like us as it also has plenty playgrounds and lots of outdoor activities such as swimming.

Nice and clean lake - no fish smell.

Nice and clean lake - no fish smell. Water is a bit cold, but that was expected. Mountains around the lake Traunsee look amazing. Lake surroundings were really nice, clean and cared for. Ice-cream at Giovanni's was really tasty.

The Hochsteinalm is practically Traunkirchen's local...

The Hochsteinalm is practically Traunkirchen's local mountain – from early morning onwards, you can see small groups of day-trippers happily making their way through the high valley towards it. There's a wonderfully positive, sunny atmosphere there. The center of Traunkirchen, especially around the lake, exudes a lovely Salzkammergut ambiance.

Traunkirchen is a small town situated directly on Lake...

Traunkirchen is a small town situated directly on Lake Traunsee. It's ideal for exploring the Salzkammergut region (Gmunden, Bad Ischl), hiking, cable cars, salt production, boat trips, and swimming. We had good experiences with the restaurants (Hotel Post) and one exception (Klosterstube).

A charming and relaxing location, but the restaurant...

A charming and relaxing location, but the restaurant selection is limited and overpriced. The services (bars, restaurants, shops, and markets) close quite early, especially for tourists. In the evening, there's no opportunity for walking around; everything is limited to the lake and the two or three nearby restaurants within walking distance; otherwise, you'll have to drive.

We enjoyed the roof top spa, an absolutely stunning experience and very relaxing. It was lovely and thoughtful that they provided a bath robe not just for myself and my partner but also for a seven-year-old! The ground and first floor restaurants offered different types of food, the former more traditional and the latter, experimental. Our room had a wonderful view of the lake and village and was a generous size with comfortable bed and large bath. The hotel owner gave a tour, from one of the locally made gondola style boats. Very memorable.

Famous location of Baadhaus just on Traunsee in very nice small city Traunkirchen. Owner family very friendly and helpful to recommend activities around (like hiking to Feuerkogel or to enjoy skywalk on Grunberg) . Hotel is "green" sustainable energy production. By recommendation of Josef (owner), we travel to Hallstatt via train where train station is just 5min walk. Our room had very nice terrace from which you can look on Traunsee as well to nice chapel up the hill.

The hotel is a 15-minute walk from the lake. The room is spacious and features a veranda. On the ground floor, there's a restaurant serving incredible, superb cuisine from the chef. The service, aesthetics, and quality of the food are beyond reproach. I highly recommend visiting the restaurant in the evening. Excellent SPA on the top floor
