We arrived late evening due to delayed flights and were welcomed so warmly by the lady on reception and a warm fire in reception. We were staying for 5 nights and were upgraded to a queen suite with views and wow did that make our stay extra special, seeing those views the next morning was breathtaking and the suite was large and comfortable. The bed was lovely and comfy, the walk in shower was great and the whole hotel was spotless clean. We enjoyed some amazing food in the hotel restaurant both for breakfast and dinner, would certainly recommend eating there. Our stay was outstanding.

Wie hat a pod Room on the 3rd floor at Salamanca 25. It was spacious and quiet. No Noise from the pub in the Front Building or the hustle of Salamanca Market. The Room as a Bit of a dark, Loungie vibe, which I liked. In you are looking for a bright Room with big windows and Lots of daylight, this is Not the Room for you. Minibar prices are very reasonable as well.

Our stay at this lovely and charming hotel was made exceptional by the attention that was given to us by Marc and his capable team. Being greeted by a relaxing cup of tea in the morning room after a long, busy day was just the perfect beginning to our stay. The food was amazing with the quality of the local Tassie produce shining through, and the views - be it from our room or the gorgeous conservatory were simply stunning. The breakfast was included in the room cost and we appreciated the array of delicious options. The turn-down service was a special touch and my husband and I felt pampered and relaxed during our entire stay. A special mention of Marc - he went the extra mile with our requests and made us feel special. We wouldn't hesitate to come back here - especially because of the care extended to us.

FAQs about hotels in Hobart

Historic City Comes of Age

Historic Hobart, with its convict past, was often referred to as Australia’s neglected backwater. How times have changed as its temperate climate, quiet lifestyle and fabulous food and markets make it a revitalising tourist destination along the Derwent River in Tasmania.

The city’s significant maritime history begins at Constitution Dock, situated along the waterfront and facing the beautiful harbour. Nearby Battery Point and affluent Sandy Bay feature Georgian and Victorian architecture and the first settler’s cottages in Australia’s 2nd oldest city.

Escape to a memorable view of Hobart town from the snow-covered Mount Wellington or get close up and personal in the city’s quaint streets. Hobart comes alive during the colourful Salamanca Market, held every Saturday morning, where you can bag a bargain or sample mouth-watering produce such as local wines and cheeses.

Cascade Brewery and Cadbury’s Chocolates have tours of these Tasmanian icons or visit Wrest Point Casino, a popular event and entertainment centre.

The annual Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race in December and Tulip Festival in the Royal Botanical Gardens swells the population in this small capital city. Make sure you check Booking.com ahead of time for your colonial cottage, cosy B&B or waterfront apartment.

A lot of Harbart is in serious need of capital expenditure.

A lot of Harbart is in serious need of capital expenditure. Many roads are in a poor state. How about drinking water, waste water, storm water? I cannot believe how the Tasmanian public, and Prime Minister Albanese are pushing for a new sports stadium at > $1billion, when the essentials are begging for attention.

Beautiful part of the World…..So much to see.. Hobart is a base to engage any thing you want to do or see. Go for a walk from Cascade Brewery to Hobart to find the platypuses on the rivulet. It’s not even advertised to do…..Soul enchanting. Sneak off to Bruny Island and have an adventure you will never forget . Mars Bluff, Shucked oysters, White Wallabies, 12 degrees ocean water. Captain Cook didn’t go for a swim here.

There were four of us and we hired a Kia Carnival which had plenty of space and comfort. We were in Hobart for 4 nights at the beginning of our holiday and 1 night at the end. We visited Mona, Port Arthur, Bruny Island (where we enjoyed a jet boat ride) and also went to the Salamanca Markets. Our favourite restaurant in Hobart was Landscape Restaurant as the food was unbelievable and there was a good wine selection. The staff were great too.

Our honeymoon trip to Hobart was amazing.

Our honeymoon trip to Hobart was amazing. The weather is unpredictable but you wait it out and it changes quickly! So many food choices and too many spots we wanted to stop at but ran out of time. Has a great night scene compared to our small town, but not too crazy like the big cities on the mainland. Felt safe the entire time, everyone is friendly. Although we had a car, the CBD is very walkable and can spend days just there - then outside the city is great too!

We found Hobart easy to get around when visiting different site. Hop on hop off bus was a great way to get our bearings and work out what other attractions we wanted to see. Recommend the Cascade female factory tour, the bus to top of Mt Wellington and the Botanical Gardens.

Grand old style hotel that's very conveniently located close to Salamanca Place (just a quick walk through the nearby park to reach it) and also the main streets of the Hobart CBD. The hotel itself was very comfortable, my room was a lot more spacious than I was expecting and it has a bit of atmosphere about it being in an older period building. If you're catching the airport bus, stop number 4 is pretty much across the street, so very convenient. Staying at the Macquarie was the icing on the cake of a great trip to Hobart!

It was a super comfortable and clean place to stay! All the stuff were super helpful and it was a super easy check in/check out for us. Plus the hotel was in a great location to be able to explore lots of Hobart as we were happy to go on walks and felt the hotel was on the middle of all the places we wanted to go to while we were in that part of Tasmania.
