We stayed at Apartment 14 & were very disappointed with the level of cleanliness. The carpets were dirty and in need of a professional clean. There was visible dirt on the floors, with the tiled areas sticky underfoot. The ensuite sink had not been cleaned with sand left on the counter and the shower still had hair inside. The top of the fridge was dusty and dirty and the furniture, particularly the couches had sweat mark from continual use and had not been cleaned. The balcony was also covered in sand and bird droppings. Overall, the apartment felt unclean and poorly maintained. We paid for 2 nights but left after 1. Maroochydore is a lovely place to visit for all age groups.
Maroochydore is a lovely place to visit for all age groups. The public transport buses are running past constantly. Ubers are readily available and an economic way to get around also if you have no car. The Sunshine plaza is a huge mall situated on the Maroochy river, hundred of shops and eateries, also a movie theatre. The beach & river are both great places to spend time, in beautiful surroundings, maroochy surf club has good reasonably priced food, and awesome beach views from the restaurant & bars. In my opinion as a 64 year old Maroochydore is the hidden gem of the Sunshine Coast. You have the tourist hubs of Mooloolaba to the south (3 minutes) and Noosa to the north (40 minutes). In particular, the little pocket of Cotton Tree has a little village feel about it. Everybody you pass on the street says G'Day or at least gives a smile and a nod. There are many restaurants to choose from. We enjoyed Lyra, which offered excellent Greek cuisine and attentive service. It, like numerous other restaurants, is on Ocean Street, very close to the apartment. The Donnan was worth going to especially with kids. Great area for kids to play, adults can relax good homemade pizzas the whole atmosphere was terrific. Kings Beach Caloundra is fantastic.
