Very interesting town with a rich history.

Very interesting town with a rich history. Fantastic place for walks and bike riding. Especially liked the effort that has been made with the bike tracks and the artistic wooden bike riders along the path.

    Old style small colonial town.

Old style small colonial town. It's not easy to reach, but you won't regret the effort! Well preserved colonial era buildings - Post office, bank, etc - nice parks surround it, and IT'S CLOSE TO THE SNOW!! 😃 The town pub has fairly good grub, there are several cafes and a bakery. Nice for a short stay.

Omeo is a fascinating sub-alpine town, with a long history, including gold rushes and associated lawlessness. There are some lovely historic buildings and good interpretation. There are also the beginnings of a major mountain bike trail network, which will be completed in stages over the next couple of years. Omeo is a good base for skiing at Mount Hotham (much easier access than through Harrietville). In summer, it provides an alternative route to Falls Creek and the Bogong High Plains. There are also some excellent walks in the vicinity, including to the Oriental Claims historic area.

We didn’t get to see Omeo in it’s best light because it rained quite a bit. The town has an interesting history and some significant historic buildings. There is also a very pleasant walk along Armstrong Creek, which flows through Omeo and was flooding at the time. It also has good access to ski resorts and coastal Gippsland for day trips, weather permitting. The Fresh Air cafe had a good menu with some vegan dishes. There is also a supermarket, bakery, several other cafes, a service station with adventure equipment and a pub.

Omeo is a history lesson. Always something to learn.

Omeo is a history lesson. Always something to learn. It's a small town in a rural setting. Its very scenic and quiet. Significant sites and buildings along the main street have information signs revealing the history. Its a great little stop on the way up to, or coming down from Mt Hotham. Dinner at the Golden Age Hotel is a must. The food was fresh and plentiful and the staff were fantastic. Don't go looking for night-life, there isn't any. It's just a nice, quiet place to rest.

I love everything, from the drive to get there, the Manse, the host was very nice and helpful, you can ask Michael about anything in Omeo and he will happy show you around, Omeo is absolute stunning, there are so many things to do, there are bike tracks, hiking, water drafting, skiing, yes there is snow nearby and will last until Christmas, the view is gorgeous.

Old style large motel units thoughtfully cared for and presented. Very clean with unique home like touches. Check_ in and out was easy. Excellent location in Omeo able to walk to everything including the pub which had a delicious dinner menu and a great atmosphere. It was very lovely.

Beds were soft and comfortable, room and grounds were super clean and it's in a very convenient location. We stayed in Omeo to head to Mt Hotham. It's right next door to the snow hire servo, multiple cafes and direct access to the mountain making the trip a breeze every day!

The house is well located in Omeo, which is reasonably well located to Mt Hotham. It's a cosy, nicely appointed cottage/house that provides a comfortable, pleasant stay.
