This was a hidden gem that exceeded our expectations. It was easy to find and just a short walk from the esplanade that has a few restaurants, a pub, a cafe, a brewery and a gorgeous beach with a jetty to fish off (or just watch the world go by) and a swimming net. Picnic Bay is a quite spot on the island but the busses run frequently and on time to get you anywhere else on the island if you want to explore. The man on reception was so friendly with a no fuss check in and super informative about anything we needed to know. The accommodation is small but absolutely spotless. Paths and gardens were clean and maintained, the pool was sparkling, the outdoor bbq area super clean and spacious and the rooms were just perfect, actually better than the photos. They had everything we needed for our night stay, we would definitely stay again and hopefully for longer next time.

The room was awesome, with a view on the pool and the ocean, it gave us the perfect relaxed holiday vibe. We even got a late check-out till 5 pm for free which resulted in a well needed hot shower after a sweaty walk to spot koala's nearby. Contact with Adam whent smoothless by sms and an envelop ready to pick up the key whenever we wanted.

The place was so clean! It felt so fancy and absolutely loved the plunge pool which also had a TV and mini fridge down stairs with it. The staff were so welcoming but also just gave us our space. Location was perfect, easy walk to restaurants and clothes shops, bottle shops and the beach. Close to the ferry terminal and bus stops to be able to access the whole island. The beds were comfortable! There were really no negatives, I can't wait to stay again!

    Loved the area.

    Loved the area. Felt a very secluded part of the island, so we just loved that. Beautiful right on the beachfront. No road in front, completely relaxing, felt very different than other parts of the island.

    We did the Hawkins Bay walk very steep need good fitness but the view was very rewarding once you reached the top. The Jetty is great both day and the lights are lovely at night time. We ate at the R & R hotel great meals beautiful fish tank and the service was great too. Also you must visit the Museum.

    Picnic Bay is very quiet and peaceful.

    Picnic Bay is very quiet and peaceful. The jetty was busy with fishermen on the weekend but quiet otherwise. Not many food options and very few shops. I’m glad we had our car to travel over to other areas.

    Picnic Bay is the quieter end of Magnetic Island with a lovely beach lots of birdlife and well cared for Mall area filled with shaded seating areas , magnificent Fig trees and a hotel which serves good food with bright cheerful service. There are other options for meals and more to be found in the other bay areas and the local bus service will take to all the beauty spots on the Island. If you want a relaxing holiday Picnic Bay is an excellent choice.

    We had a wonderful three-night stay at Rosalita in Picnic Bay on Magnetic Island. The house was clean, comfortable, and well-appointed with everything we needed. Rod was a fantastic host—very welcoming, helpful, and incredibly knowledgeable about the island, which made our stay even better. We especially enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and relaxing vibe of the island. It was great having local restaurants and the brewery just a short stroll away. A perfect spot for a quiet getaway—highly recommended!

    Picnic Bay is a wonderful location with a beautiful beach, pub and cafes nearby. Our room was fine, the bed a bit hard for me, probably fine for others. The manager was super friendly and helpful when we arrived, and showed us good walking tracks and other info.
