You need a full day.
You need a full day. The cruise is included in the entry and very informative. You can book various tours and take a walk around by yourself. For those with mobility problems a free buggy will take you to various sites. Some places have steps. There is a great cafe that sells hot or cold food and drinks a gift shop ad a dining room for nght time meals. There is a lovely Cafe and museum at the lunatic asylum along with restrooms. Make sure you have your camera ready as some beautiful birds throughout. Wear comfy shoes and be prepared for quick change in weather. overall it is a very great insight in the harsh conditions convicts endured. Enjoy.Guest review byCherylAustralia - 10.0

An all day visit required. The ticket allows for 2 day pass. Ferry ride enjoyable. Toilets located every where around the site. Where you least expect them, but are glad they are. We probably should have listened to the tour guides and got a lot more out of our visit but we enjoyed just going around on our speedy schedule. I enjoyed the Spotify talks and found them informative. I would have liked more of them. The boat trip was very good.Guest review byLindaAustralia - 10.0
Port Arthur is a terrific place to visit!!!
Port Arthur is a terrific place to visit!!! There is lots to see and do here. The Port Arthur Historic Site is fantastic. We took a guided tour of the site before we started looking around. Our tour guide was exceptional and really knew her stuff. The cruise around Carnarvon Bay which is included in the price was also great. The site is not the only attraction at Port Arthur. There are also a number of geographical features on the peninsula that are worth a look (e.g. Remarkable Cave, Tasman Arch, Devil's Kitchen). The Tasmanian Devil Unzoo at Taranna should not be overlooked either!Guest review byWebber - 10.0

I got great weather and that may have made a difference. Day 1 was at Port Arthur. It's beautiful but sobering. A must do. Day 2 Tasman Island cruise. Brilliant. We saw whales (out of season), seals and tons of dolphins and seabirds. The boat trip was fun and the scenery spectacular. A must, must, must do.Guest review byBennett

Magnificent surroundings, great facilities, warm welcome. Rhos was just a perfect stay. We appreciated the care pf the hosts. The games and toys available for our kids make their stay also more joyful. The meeting of the caws was something exceptional. We really enjoyed also the late evening around the fire pit. The hotel tries to maintain an “old hotel/pub” look which I appreciated. As a side note,there are things here and there to renew or to make the premises more modern, but you can see clearly that there’s work put into that on a daily basis.
