Everything was perfect. Super cozy house, super friendly hosts, the breakfast was perfect, the bed was comfy. Very modern and beautiful house. Free parking next to the house. Beautiful surroundings. And an awesome collection of Peugeot model cars! We also purchased some nice pottery.

The owner was extremely friendly and helpful. She even offered us dinner as we were traveling by bike and all restaurants in the village were closed that day. The house and the garden was beautiful and the room was big and comfortable. The breakfast was outstanding with homemade yoghurt, granola and applejuice, different kind of cheese from the neighbourhood, lots of fresh fruit and a lot more. It could not have been better.

I had travelled to see three of the spring Flanders races and ride some of the course myself. The location meant easy access to the routes. I had the most wonderful hosts and they were incredibly helpful, and they provided everything I needed and more. A very well equipped apartment above their garage, with numerous small touches. Not missing anything at all. The breakfast options were plentiful. Would not hesitate to return in the future.

An huge surprise at just how spcaious and well equipped this property is. The rooms are very generous and the the two bathroom/shower rooms along with a 3rd toilet were brilliant for our large parties needs. Parking was easy, communication with the host was excellent too. All round a great property for large parties.

Ideal overnight stop over for cycling in Flanders. Bart is a great host and the bar had many interesting beers. Breakfast in the morning was excellent.

Clean, comfortable big bed, nice shower, continental only breakfast has to be eaten in room (ham, cheese, bread, cereal etc) and good coffee maker in room. Free parking in car park directly opposite. Close to Ypres and other historic areas by car.

Every detail was taken care of. Sandy could not have been a better host. I requested a 3pm check in as wanted to visit a local brewery before 6pm closing, and she made a dinner reservation at the pub next door. Breakfast was also great. Coffee excellent, fresh omelette and orange juice.

    If you love cycling this is the perfect location with excellent cycle ways. Great for going around the WW1 sites all within very easy driving distance. Quiet location but two excellent resturants within walking distance.

    A quiet town ideally situated for our all too brief tour of the Ypres salient battle fields. Clean, amazing church next to the cottage. Friendly. You could cycle from there for kilometre after kilometre. During our brief stay there was nothing we did not like!!!!

    Merkem is a lovely village, very quiet. The property is adjacent to the church and has a lovely garden for guest use. We were blessed with fab weather so it was a godsend after a tiring day exploring Ypres and the surrounding area.
