Turnhout is pleasant enough, but not the most interesting...
Turnhout is pleasant enough, but not the most interesting place in Belgium. The town centre is walkable but there isn’t a lot to see. There are a lot of vacant shops and the commercial centre looks like it’s not doing too well. The train service to Antwerp and Brussels is OK. The highlights are the playing card museum, the main square, the castle and the churches. To be honest, I don’t know why anyone would visit Turnhout unless you had something specific to do there, as I had. Last year I was in Leuven, which is well worth a visit.Guest review byJohnIreland - 10.0

Turnhout is a small market town, some nice shops and a few restaurants of note. Due to a short time there I didn't see much but it was nice to walk around. We ate at one of the restaurants on the main Square which was reasonable and pleasant. Turnhout is a beautiful town, very welcoming, quiet and clean. The hotel is in a very quiet street a stone's throw from the train station and the city center. Turnhout is not the most obvious place to visit in Belgium, but it still has a lot offer: a UNESCO World Heritage Beguinage, a beautiful castle, some interesting museums and an extremely pleasant atmosphere. It's not up there with some of the finest places in Belgium such as Bruges, Antwerp, Ghent, Mechelen etc but a very pleasant place nevertheless. I loved it.Guest review byJohnUnited Kingdom

We thought it was a hotel as we found it on Hotels.com searching for hotels in Tournhout. However it was perfect for purpose of pur visit. Only problem, my husband has problems walking, and he found the stairs difficult. So it is worth knowing there is no lift at the the accommodation. The room was clean facilities, kettle etc. good Owners put an iron and board in apartment for us. Also we had private parking (15euro per day). This was great for us.
