A tasteful mix of the very old and the very modern. The old city is beautiful and fascinating. The open spaces and water features very attractive. Historical sites are easily accessible a well looked after. Some require a bit of a climb so be prepared for that. The restaurants are varied and the food we tried all good. Some of the waiting staff need a little more training such as asking if you're finished with a dish or a drink before removing it! Plovdiv is a beautiful place and full of great people and wonderful places to visit. The only issue I found is not many people speak English especially the older generation. An interesting city with lots of history. Most of what tourists would like to see is contained within a relatively small area, but be warned there is a bit of climbing. The receptionist was very nice and friendly (even though her english was not good) and the room was very clean and lovely, the AC was working great which was vital since there was a heat wave when we visited. Also the bathroom was big even though the room was small, but enough for us.
