This accomodation was INCREDIBLE! Although it is at the top of the hill you can usually catch the bus back up if you don’t have a car. The staff were so friendly asking us about our day and providing us with all the details to support us on our holiday. I would stay there again 10/10

Fantastic experience staying at this quaint little hotel! When we arrived, the hotel was really kind to provide a pick up from the grindelwald train station. We were served a welcome drink and bags were brought up immediately to our room. The room was wonderful comfortable with a fantastic view of the Eiger. The hotel is also very conveniently located at a short 3 min walk from the First gondola. Breakfast was also superb with fresh bread rolls, a fine selection of cured meats, yogurts, cheeses and fruits. In all my hotel stays worldwide, this hotel certainly serve up the BEST BREAKFAST. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we definitely hope to be back one day.

Grindelwald was our home base for 4 nights. The Derby Swiss Quality Hotel was the perfect choice for our stay. The location right next to the train station worked great for day trips to Lauterbrunnen, Interlaken, and Bern. No lugging suitcases long distances or stressing about catching trains. It's also very close to a Coop, the local buses, and the main shopping areas. The breakfast buffet was another highlight. We enjoyed a delicious and varied spread each morning. The staff was very hospitable. The BEST thing about our experience was the view from our room. We booked the Double Room Comfort Plus with Sitting Corner and Balcony and we were so fortunate to have a stunning view of the Eiger.

Alpine Resort and Large Glaciers

Grindelwald lies at more than 1000 metres above sea level, offering top-class ski slopes and an imposing Alpine landscape. It is located in the canton of Bern, in the Jungfrau-Aletsch UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Aletsch is the largest glacier to be found in the Alps.

Although evidence shows humans have been present in the region for thousands of years, the first long-lasting settlements date back to the Middle Age. For a long period, the destiny of the village was attached to the influence of the Interlaken Abbey, until the times of the Protestant Reformation.

Tourist activity begun in the 18th century, bringing new life and wealth to the village. During the second half of the 19th century, roads and railway lines were developed, allowing a constant influx of visitors.     An authentic, discrete luxurious mountain village which beats many others we have visited, skied and hiked over the years. Unique in its´location, dramatic mountain views everywhere, variety of walks and activities including summer glacier hikes, caves and sport/spa facilities with excellent dining after activities. A well-organised bus route brings you to every corner and the closest town of Interlaken is just half ´n hour drive or a train journey away.

    It looks like heaven...so beautiful, but stay out of the...

    It looks like heaven...so beautiful, but stay out of the main village for accommodations. Shop at the small local shops on the fringe. Do grocery shop to save on meals, Coop and Aldi are cheap and they the have better priced souvenirs! Be respectful of the local culture and embrace it all!

    Grindelwald is a beautiful town, we found people at restaurants and other site seeing places very helpful & soft spoken. we had visited Grindelwald from 7th - 11th August 2025, morning & evening were pleasant & day time it was sunny. We had hired a car so we drove around near by areas of Grindelwald.

    Great hiking. Not enough quality eating establishments. Would have loved information about the valley’s history that didn’t cost so much. Paying for tap water with a meal was not acceptable. People wew lovely.

    Lovely town with a lot of activities.

    Lovely town with a lot of activities. It can be a bit pricey but you can hike for free to your heart's content. A lot of people are paragliding, it was nice to see and it actually makes you want to try it too. Maybe next time!

    We visited a LOT of places in the Jungfrau region and while we loved Murren and Wengen, we decided that we definitely chose the best base in Grindelwald. It has such good transport links - great options for walks, activities and mountains that you could spend a week here and not need to go further than Terminal to catch a cable car to somewhere spectacular.

    The location was excellent; Grindelwald itself is quite busy and sees a lot of foot traffic - either heading to one of the cable car stations or the well used train station - Hotel Bodmi is far enough away to feel quieter and more isolated, but is close enough to have easy access to all the cool things Grindelwald has to offer. Breakfast was delicious - not my usual thing but the family and I LOVED the fluffy pancakes! Number one for this hotel is the staff though - Peter and Saskia were particularly welcoming and helpful during our stay.

    We loved our stay at Wolter property. We are a family of 3 so we were staying at their studio apartment which was right behind the hotel. With kitchen, balcony and all necessary amenities it was a very pleasant stay. Coop, migros, grindelwald First station everything was nearby. Breakfast was amazing with beautiful view from the restaurants. Staff was really good and Helpful. Highly recommend staying at Hotel Wolter.
