Location was perfect for us..Walking distance to train station and kuanzhai alley.. The Manager Frank went out of his way to make our stay comfortable and his english speaking was impeciable..Zoey and Kimberley the two front of house girls were extremely helpful with organising whatever or where ever you needed to go again there English was on song.. The hotel itself offers a nice and simple but good breakfast. Rooms were clean. beds and pillows perfect. I would seriously recommend this hotel to everyone.. Frank and his crew are worth the visit just for their hospitality.. Well done Team. if i had a hotel i would be seriously offering Frank a job.. "Ohh yeah the Pandas are kool"

Room had two queen size beds which was perfect for a family of four. In addition, the customer service was excellent and offered us late checkout from the normal 2pm (!!) to 3pm.

Xishu Garden Inn is a really lovely place to stay. We had a big comfortable corner room with city views in 2 directions. I loved the bath. The location is great. Close to monastery and interesting area with walking street and old characterful buildings , and a short walk from the metro. Breakfast was delicious with lots of choice. Best of all were the helpful friendly staff, who provided lots of local guidance, and organised a great itinerary so that we could make the most of our short transit stop over in Chengdu. Thank you Sophie and the team!

We loved the staff who were so kind and helpful. They allowed us to check in early when we arrived from the train and helped us to order a taxi 🚕 All the staff were helpful and polite including the cleaning team. Also, the facilities in the room are excellent. High quality presumably Chinese (‘Japanese-style’) toilets in rooms, seperate toilet and shower (such a sensible design!)

    A very relaxed and clean city, with very helpful people, though most of them struggled to communicate in English. It was very easy to get around the city, thanks to an excellent and highly efficient Metro subway system. Payment for services is difficult if you only have overseas credit cards, so travellers are well advised to download a Chinese app like Alipay. Make sure you visit the Panda Park!

    Chengdu is a huge city with so mutch to offer. I feel like it's still a city under construction and will look different in a year. We discovered charming neighborhoods with a pleasant bustle. As a European, you certainly attracted a lot of attention. But people are always willing to help you even if you don't speak Chinese. Installing a translation app is a good tip we'd like to share. Be sure to install Alipay or Wechat for payments. Bank cards are rarely accepted. Cash is also rarely in circulation. We discoverd many green spaces, the best Sichuan cuisine, Panda bears, a lot of taxis and there's certainly a great sense of security

    We primarily visited religious sites, especially Buddhist (Great Wild Goose Pagoda), but also Daoist. Also, the excellent Sichuan Museum. There was not enough time to see the Pandas or visit Chengdu Museum.

    Beautiful city with many fantastic historical and modern places. Cafes, restaurants, etc. The public transport as in most Chinese cities was superb. Day trips are also available and one can get to see many famous historical and cultural places.

    Chengdu is very easy to get around.

    Chengdu is very easy to get around. The Pandas are a must see. After terrible pollution in Chongqing, the fresh air of Chengdu was lovely. Will definitely come back. Just a note, the main airport is quite far from the city centre. Give yourself enough time to get there. mid afternoon took about an hour from the centre of the city.

    I visited the Shun Feng Ya Yun Teahouse, the Du Fu Cottage,...

    I visited the Shun Feng Ya Yun Teahouse, the Du Fu Cottage, the Wuhou Shrine, The Wangjianglou Park, and the Chengdu Museum. I had an absolute blast at the opera considering I managed to snag front row tickets to the show. Face changing is such a Sichuan treat, highly recommend the experience. I booked an opera makeup photoshoot and it's pretty fun to try on the performers' outfits. Du Fu Cottage and Wuhou Memorial make for very lovely walks this time of year, and both sites are rich in historical importance. Wangjianglou Park had a small area dedicated to the poet Xue Tao that I enjoyed, and a small museum where you could see some artifacts from Tang Dynasty and/or specific to paper making. The Chengdu Museum had a temporary museum on Sherlock Holmes that I unfortunately didn't get to 100% complete since there was an interactive game that took about an hour- but renting a Holmes outfit was very fun. I loved the paper puppets and the other opera puppets on display, you could really appreciate the artistry put into the craft. Great stay, would come back to Chengdu again.
