Soul Shine is the best accommodation choice in the Playa Avellanas area. The cabinas are spacious and clean with comfortable beds, good WiFi, air conditioning and a mini-fridge. The pool is a gorgeous place to relax and the grounds are laden with lush tropical flowers and vegetation. The location is amazing - Avellanas beach is a short walk away, and so are many great restaurants, including Barumis (burgers), Lola’s, La Parruja, and La Esquina, a community space with tacos, sushi, cocktails and other tasty food (visit the public market there on Friday nights for local vendors and live music). You can also walk next door and get some gelato! Owners Yael and Roee are the ultimate hosts and will ensure your stay is as perfect as possible. You really are part of the family when you’re here. And a Soul Shine review wouldn’t be complete without mentioning their delicious brunch! This place serves up some of the best food you’ll find in the area – even in all of Costa Rica. Authentic menu items such as shakshuka, Gypsy King, falafels and avocado toast are all served hot and fresh with crispy salad and yummy tapas on the side. The fresh bread is served warm and melts in your mouth! Soul Shine has everything you need for a perfect stay in the Playa Avellanas/Playa Negra area – comfortable rooms, attentive hosts, amazing food and close to the beach and restaurants. You won’t be disappointed if you stay at Soul Shine!

I visited BoHo Tamarindo with my parents in early December. We had adjacent rooms, settled in a quiet corner of the grounds facing the forest and hammocks. Johanna was an excellent host and was very friendly and responsive via whatsapp for any additional needs and questions later in the day. BoHo is in the PERFECT location in Tamarindo on the quieter and more scenic end of the beach closer to Playa Langosta. It is an easy walk anywhere to town but just the right distance from any craziness. It was the perfect place to relax in between activities and they were kindly able to make slight modifications to breakfast to accommodate my mom's "picky" appetite. Keep an eye out for the family of howler monkeys who live in the neighboring forest! We would also recommend booking a massage through the hosts, which my mom reviews as the best of her life. Another bonus was the resident dog, Iron, and cat (she might ask to come in your room!) If we return to Tamarindo we would not hesitate to stay here again!

From the moment we arrived, we felt completely at ease. The service was warm and attentive, the location just steps from the beach was unbeatable, and the food – simply delicious every single day! Surfing with the kids was such a fun experience – safe, exciting, and unforgettable. And for the little animal lovers: the resort is full of wildlife! We saw monkeys, raccoons, adorable squirrels, and even iguanas. If you’re looking for relaxation, comfort, adventure, and a welcoming atmosphere for the whole family, this is the place to be. We wholeheartedly recommend it and are already looking forward to our next stay. A true hidden gem for anyone in need of a seaside escape with a special touch of nature

This is a fab hotel which is well located for the centre of Tamarindo. The rooms are great - bed is comfy, AC works well and showers are hot. The breakfast is fabulous - a wonderful way to start the day! The staff are all so friendly and helpful, assisting us in booking tours. You can be in the bars and restaurants of Tamarindo within 5mins and the beach in 10mins. We loved the hotel so much we extended our stay!

We stayed here to be in a quiet place away from tourist...

We stayed here to be in a quiet place away from tourist towns, and it was perfect. The best part was how clean and thoughtful the space was. The decks are almost as big as the house, so we spent a lot of time outside, there are monkeys that go by. There’s plenty of restaurants and shops in Avellanas, a 4 minute car ride away. We loved the sunsets on the beach out front, there were only 5 or 6 people on the beach. It was exactly what we wanted!
