Quite new so things worked well. Quite modern luxury. And you could walk to the other side of the street and visit another Hilton with a nice pool with greenery and more cozy facilities. They had a very nice area for sitting and working.

The staff were awesome. Danny the bartender went out of his way to make my stay incredible, always going the extra mile with a smile on his face. Of course I cannot forget to mention the manager, he was always willing to help me in any way he could and I am so appreciative. There were activities every day that were awesome, especially if you wanted to meet other interesting travellers.

A stunningly beautiful hotel, extending over three or four adjoining properties. You have to admire the brilliant and bizarre artworks here, there and everywhere, the fantastic breakfast (with a staff member to cook eggs any way you want in addition to the standard fare), and the really comfortable room (I had one on the courtyard). A perfect sitting room and free coffee available all day meant I had the most relaxing time ever in a hotel. A beautiful (if expensive) restaurant next door (but with a Spanish restaurant alternative just 50 metres away. And there's a cinema just down the road.

We stayed 3 nights, two full days, on our first visit to Costa Rica, before heading to a rain forest lodge, Our purpose for staying in San Jose was primarily to get a feel for the country and its history.. SJ is an interesting town, well worth a few days stay. We recommend the free guided walking tour, and the National museum, especially its butterfly garden! Sadly we didn't have enough time to visit the Jade museum, which was the favourite of our walking tour guide, nor the art museum.

It is not very nice city. Streets are dirty and smelly. I really liked the asian part though (I really recommend the Igo Ramen restaurant). We didn't explore the city, just spent there night after and before the flights.

Costa Rica is one of the better economies in Central America...

Costa Rica is one of the better economies in Central America and San Jose somewhat reflects this in prices - I have travelled a lot in south and central america and San Jose isn't cheap. Resturants etc add on local tax and service charge and tip?? - Bit like USA - however the central market is great for cheap local food and very nice. Our accomodation was in Escalante which is an up and coming suburb (30 mins walk to central San Jose) - and there are plenty cafes and resturants in that area - Uber is cheap....But many places are walkable. We did a one day volcano tour (crater lake is gone - not as per the pictures), but it was interesting - particularly the Cartago bascilica - and the central university sloth tour and central San Jose walking tours are good. Its not the excitement of the Mexico City 'Dias de Muertos' or the dramatic central square - I was there early Nov 25, but Costa Rica was good experience - nice people - and plenty good beaches and wild life.

I loved it.

I loved it. I can say you need to be an assertive driver as the motorcyclist/scooter drivers drive between the lanes on the street and freeway. Using Waze as your app is necessary as many streets and off ramps do not necessarily tell you the exit name or number if any. I love that other area/neighborhoods are within 10 to 30 minutes of one another. Tacobar Escazu, Moose, Cafe a la Moda, Country Inn Suites Cariari/San Jose Airport was amazing! The staff at these location were phenomenal. We tipped above the included gratuity within the check they were so good. Use your translation apps as it help when there is a need to translate from your native language to Spanish. It was a wonderful trip!

Vibrant busy city with lots of interesting things to see and do. Name a brand and you can find it in the stores although it may be a bit on the pricey side. The one thing that struck us almost immediately was how clean things are, and the people are warm, welcoming and patient with us folks who can barely speak Spanish.

Excellent port of entry to visit lots of Costa Rican gems! Whether you are looking for adventure or chill beach vibes, this is the place with lots of access to tours from the city. And the city itself has a very robust historical, art and cultural experiences. Would recommend. Predominantly Spanish speaking, but lots of nationals will speak some English! So language barrier isn't a huge concern.

Liked it so much, i stayed at it at the beginning and end of trip to Costa Rica. Liked the mix of contempoary, tradtional and urban styles. Lots of ecletic furniture and decorative objects in the warehouse style reception area. Bedroom modern and simply sophisticated. Hotel situated in central area and good for visiting museums, theatre and churches. Lovely roof top terrace garden with bar and restaurant, had great meal and cocktail. Good breakfast buffet selection

Very nice little hotel in the barrio escalante, nightlife is at your door: restaurants, bars. Very safe area. In this hotel we had the best breakfast of all our stays in Costa Rica. Staff is very helpfull, i asked if they had an iron and they gave me one straight away. At walking distance from Mercado Central. We sure will be going back in this hotel. Hotel was very clean, room was cleaned every day.

Charming place in the very centre of San José. Nice, refreshing pool and warm jacuzzi. The breakfast is served a la carte (you have three options to choose from). All of them come with good coffee and fresh fruits. The hotel provides a very good base to explore the capital and prepare for the rest of your journey in Costa Rica. Very nice owners!

Very nice and clean apartment, small and compact, but comfortable, functional and safe. Far from the center, but that was fine for us, we spent only one night there, in San Jose, before continuing on to other locations in Costa Rica.
