Our stay at Paraiso Quetzal was absolutely amazing! The lodge is surrounded by beautiful cloud forest, offering breathtaking views. The staff were so friendly and helpful, the food was delicious, and we even got to see the famous quetzal! In September, it did get a bit chilly at night, but we were perfectly comfortable with the provided heaters and cozy blankets. It’s a perfect place to relax, enjoy the peace of the mountains, and experience the magic of Costa Rica’s highlands.

The lodge is right next to the forest with several walking...

The lodge is right next to the forest with several walking paths to explore for different levels of difficulty. Tres de Junio is also centrally located between San Gerardo and Santa Maria de Dota, thus making it relatively quick a visit to both as well as other National Parks and trekkings (Tapanti, Los Quetzales and Cerro de la Muerte). Plan for at least 3 nights stay.

The best thing about the place is its natural beauty, with clean and well-marked trails. The staff is generally unfriendly, with a couple of exceptions. The restaurant is nice and clean, but the food takes a long time to arrive despite the small size of the place. The food itself is just okay. The pillows in the rooms are terrible—they're flat.
