We are full of emotions after this trip, it’s so amazing! Rooms are beautiful, all different. We stayed in Harry Potter room and the atmosphere was really magical. There is a town very close to the castle where you can buy goods and have dinner.

The location was wonderful. Beautiful views over the river and town were everything shown in the pictures, and sitting on the balcony was a treat. The bed was a sofa bed with a comfortable mattress topper. The kitchen and bathroom were more than adequate. I went to the spa/pool in town multiple times.

A really comfortable hotel, and we received an unexpected upgrade which was a nice touch. It gave us a little more room to stretch out. We are bike packers and the hotel manager gave us access to the lock up garage to keep our bikes secure overnight which we really appreciated. The hotel is right on the EuroVelo 15 so super easy to find. We had a delicious meal in the downstairs restaurant and for any fellow Aussie travellers - I can highly recommend the Mediterranean Chicken Schnitzel, it’s the closest thing I have had to an Aussie chicken Parma in my 7 months of European travel.

My husband and I were Cycle Touring and arrived here in a thunderstorm. We were very wet but warmly welcomed by the owner. He took us around to the garage first so that we could lock our bikes away safely. Then we registered and were shown personally to our room up stairs on the 3rd floor. I even had my panniers carried for me. That was a first for me, many thanks for that. Our room was awesome, named "Jennifer", large window overlooking the Rhein river, couch, coffee table, great bed and super large bathroom. We could sit on the bed and watch the ships go by and look out at the large chateau on the other side of the river. The breakfast area was magical. The atrium type room was a really nice space to be in and eat our well presented breakfast. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed on the day we arrived, but there are other restaurants close by. Even though we had no German language, it wasn't a barrier. We were welcomed and managed to work through all communications with waving hands, pen and paper and humour. Many thanks for great hospitality.

The village lies along the Rhine and is not much. The promenade along the Rhine is attractive. There is also a castle higher up with a restaurant, which I do recommend. There is also a nice walk in that area.

Bad Hönningen isn't a bustling village/town, but it does...

Bad Hönningen isn't a bustling village/town, but it does have a bakery, several restaurants, and a good selection of supermarkets. You can enjoy lovely walks along the Rhine, cycle in the area, and even for those with limited mobility, there's plenty to see and do in the area that's easily accessible by car.

We've known Bad Hönningen for several years.

We've known Bad Hönningen for several years. Unfortunately, the pedestrian zone is becoming increasingly dreary, and there are very few accommodation options left. The number of restaurants and cafes is also limited, and in winter there are few, if any, places to eat or drink. It's a shame, because the location on the Rhine is truly wonderful.

Located on the Rhine, with thermal baths, camping, and numerous excursion options by bike and on foot... near and far. A ferry to the other side of the Rhine is available. There are many vacant properties, and the extended town center, including the train station, appears somewhat run-down; it has seen better days. The Vietnamese restaurant and wine bar at the northern end of the main street are recommended. Be sure to try the wines!

The only good thing was Arenfels Castle; the "town" itself is lifeless. It may have been attractive 40 years ago, but unfortunately it has stagnated without evolving in a contemporary way. Many buildings are neglected, everything is outdated...

The hotel is limited to no bar or restaurant, even though it was advertised on the website. Furthermore, the balcony is deviating from the wall, which seems unsafe. The reception staff are rude and act as if they don't understand English. Don't book; find something else.

We were travelling by bike and the hotel was able to provide secure storage in an underground garage, which was appreciated. Staff were helpful and friendly and spoke English very well. We arrived early and were allowed early access to our room. The room was clean and tidy with two single beds. We were there on a Sunday so the town was very quiet but some of the local food shops were open and within close proximity.

This was a unique stay and something we really wanted to try. It was very quiet so we were one of only two couples staying there so had plenty of space and basically the entire castle to ourselves. We stayed in the ZauberKammer which was very spacious. The facilities were fairly basic but one would expect that as it's not a hotel. Overall it was a pleasant stay and the host was always available to assist if needed.
