Fussen is very near to Castle Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau Castle. There are many restaurants in town, though most close up around 8pm in the summer. There are grocery stores in walking distance that have a wide selection of products. What a gem of a town!
What a gem of a town! I came for a race by myself and wish I had made it a family trip. The castles nearby would have been a lovely family excursion, there was a cheese shop the town just a few minutes away. Füssen was fabulous and far better than I expected, recommend hiring an E bike, going round the lake and the riding round the old town, it is beautiful. Three nights was perfect for us. Fussen is a tourist town from which visitors visit the famous castles. Hotels give visitors "Fussern Cards" which entitle them to bus transport to the castles. The room was incredibly comfortable, cleaned daily, and had a modern design. It was also very warm and cozy, with excellent windows – a big plus, especially during the winter. We greatly appreciated receiving the Füssen City Cards from the hotel, which allowed us to use the buses for free throughout our stay. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and the breakfasts were both delicious and satisfying.
