Oh dear... this place may have been great 50+ years ago but what a let down. Boarded up restaurants, hardly any people. No atmosphere or vibe in the town at all. It felt so sad and depressing - definitely not worth taking the time out to visit. The train up the mountain was ok but expensive for a short visit - only one bit of the cafe open. Super friendly staff and beautiful views from the outside terrace on a warm summer night. I can also imagine this being the perfect hotel when you’re there for hiking - unfortunately we only spent one night on our way home after our summer holiday elsewhere. Breakfast was extensive and good and having the playroom and other children’s corners made all the difference for us. Especially the ones at the reception. Breakfast was excellent, lots of options and very well prepared with lots of sitting. We had to sit om the terrace as no dogs are allowed inside the restaurant. It worked for us since weather was warm enough and we had great view of the Rhein. Location was central and we are in the old town in less than 5 mins.
