We picked Paderborn as a stopover as it was a convenient distance from our ferry port. A modern town and not particularily attractive it does have a good selection of shops. I'm a bit biased as my mother and grandmother are from Paderborn but I had not been there for quite a few years, so I wanted to see the Christmas market. That was amazing beautiful lighting great shopping loads of things to eat. You need to visit the Dome and other churches around the area as they are lovely, nothing like them in the UK. Paderborn has quite a variety of ethnic restaurants. The Indian cuisine is above average. There are plenty of bus stops with frequent stops. The buildings and architecture are beautiful. The parks are fairly clean with few bums and beggars. Seems like a nice family city. The public pools are clean and friendly.
