This massively exceeded our expectations. The photos are not very good, it's much nicer in real life: modern, clean, spacious, quality furnishings. There's also a restaurant and lovely beer garden on site which seems to be popular with families and locals (but not open late, not noisy). This also meant it was very flexible to check in and get the key. The apartment was top floor with no lift - the building is 300 years old. Free parking right outside. The owners were super friendly and chatty. Schongau also has a nice old town a short walk away, and it's within driving distance of Neuschwanstein castle.

The b&b is at a 30 minutes drive both from Fussen and Landsberg am Lech on the Romantische Strasse. Brand new apartment in a very quiet neighbourhood (we could sleep with the windows open without hearing any noise). Complete with everything, we felt at home. We particularly appreciated the table with benches outside where to enjoy breakfast. Nets at the windows. Comfortable bed, big fridge, good water pressure in the shower. Very kind hostess. Very close there is the archaeological site "Villa rustica", the remains of a Roman villa very well displayed and surrounded by a beautiful little garden. It's really worth a visit!

A charming town, the historic center retains part of its...

A charming town, the historic center retains part of its city walls. It's a quiet place, but with numerous restaurants and shops. I chose it after reading Oliver Pötzsch's novels (The Hangman's Daughter), but it proved to be an excellent base for visiting interesting places (the various castles to the south, Munich, Oberammergau, the Wieskirche, etc.).

A charming little town – we visited the old town and it was lovely. We heard that some people were bothered by the church bells, but we found it quite pleasant. And they didn't start ringing until 6 a.m. (or so we were told), because we slept soundly until 8 a.m. ;o)))

We were delighted with this beautiful and very clean town.

We were delighted with this beautiful and very clean town. The train journey was easy, and the short climb to the old town was no problem for anyone who is reasonably fit. We stayed two nights in Schongau so we could see the Passion Play in Oberammergau. A car is definitely the best way to get to Oberammergau.

The town's small-scale structure and manageable size, along with its historical ambiance (almost completely preserved city walls), attractive infrastructure, and wide range of restaurants, are appealing. Hiking and cycling trails, as well as swimming opportunities along the Lech River, are also available.

A beautiful town with a historic center surrounded by walls, only partially accessible. It invites you to take a pleasant stroll through the narrow streets of the old town and the main square. Cafes and pastry shops offer delicious treats for a relaxing break.

We had a gorgeous family suite on the top floor with beautiful views. There was plenty of space, even with an extra travel cot and 'put-you-up' single bed. It was an easy 15 minute walk down the hill to the old town of Schongau. And we had a lovely evening at the Brauhaus just 5 minutes down the road.

The hotel is conveniently located in the centre of Schongau. The beds were comfy and it was quiet in the night and morning. The owner is very friendly and there was space for us to store our bikes inside
