Staying at this hotel feels like being welcomed home by your family. Great value for money, spacious room with a beautiful view to Cotopaxi and excellent location, just around the corner from the main road with several restaurants nearby, are among its excellent features, but the breakfast stands out for the kindness and care of the lady who will set the buffet and prepare eggs a la carte for you and who will remind you of your grandmother almost inevitably. The hotel manager was just as kind and helpful. I wish we had stayed longer.

With Ruta de los volcanos we really found a hidden gem! Darwin was an excellent host and is really talented. First and foremost he is an exceptional chef and prepared the best dinner for us that we had an our entire trip in Ecuador. We expected very simple food as the place is very remote but learned that he is known for his great cuisine in the entire area! And on top of that he was so helpful with the planning for our hiking. We went on a very tough hiking trip up to the peak of Rumiñahui and Darwin showed us the route on the map with a lot of patience. For Cotopaxi he organized a guide including transport and for both days we got an excellent lunch box provided. All came at a reasonable cost. There is free drinking water which you can fill your bottles with and all requests we had were fulfilled with care and joy. We almost felt like part of the family. Our room had an excellent view and the location is really ideal for hiking or any other activity around and on the volcanos. The fire in the evening was so cozy to relax and recover from a day in the mountains. We highly recommend Ruta de Los Volcanos and would certainly stay here again if we were back in the area! Thank you, Darwin and family, for making us feel like home far away from our home 😊

The place is located in a quite little town on the Panamerica and right at the foot of the incredible volcanos of iliniza and corazon! Making it the perfect place to rest and start adventures into the Nature like Cotopaxi national park. But the best thing is the little place itself and it's amazing owners that couldn't care more about your well-being and helping you with literally everything!! Enjoy this little oasis in the middle of nowhere and get close to Ecuadors amazing landscapes. Definitely a hidden 💎

- the staff, Diego was very helpful in giving us advice on which tours to book - the breakfast was good - the location was good - we felt safe inside the locked gate - free water station to fill up our bottles - the room was spacious - the blankets were cozy enough to keep us warm all throughout the cold nights in Machachi

Frank is an amazing host! He helped us so much with planning of the trips around. ( El Corazón, Iliniza Norte, Cotopaxi....) Chaupi was our base camp for the acclimatization in mountains in Ecuador. We spent in Frank hostal amazing one week and I can definitely say, that it was the best decision stay in Ilinizas Wasi. You can use a kitchen, pat their dog and cats, use the washing machine. Frank even helped us with booking a guide for Cotopaxi and he recommended us great guide Marco. ( From 8 groups we were the only ones, who reached the summit.) I recommend this place 10/10.!

The city has a market with exceptionally high-quality fruit at excellent prices. There were many roadworks and traffic disruptions in the city, without any signage. The proximity to Cotopaxi Park was excellent!

Our stay was short, but the room was very comfortable and lovely, with a private bathroom. Aracely's service was excellent; she was very kind at all times. The place is beautiful and surrounded by green areas with lots of nature, and they have some adorable dogs.

Machachi is a beautiful place to explore mountains like the Ilinizas and Corazón. You can go hiking, mountaineering, horseback riding, or cycling. It's a place far from the city where you can relax.

It's a perfect place to stop and recharge before continuing...

It's a perfect place to stop and recharge before continuing to explore this wonderful country. From there, you can embark on routes to the volcanoes or head towards Quito along the Pan-American Highway.
