We loved our stay at Sonesta St. George Hotel. We were treated like royalty. The hotel surprised us with a cake to celebrate our honeymoon. They went above and beyond to make sure we had a nice stay, including packing us a boxed breakfast for our departure day.o

This hotel is seriously amazing. The street entrance is a little doorway with security but, then there is an amazing walkway through the most spectacular gardens ever. The service was beyond impeccable. Every person was happy to see you and very helpful - even at 0200 in morning!! The pool has two parts and is clean and quiet - soothing. Staff bring your towels to lounge and make sure all is good. The food is amazing from breakfast to evening - you seriously feel well cared for here.

Our stay at Bob Marley Peace was great. It's a very modest hotel with everything you need, with great value for the price. The beds were comfortable and the AC and wifi worked well. Breakfast is also good. The hotel manager goes out of his way to help you out with everything you need. I really recommend this stay.

Very nice, very clean hotel. Great food in the restaraunt! Actually the best food in town. From the very first moment we arrived, everything exceeded our expectations. The hotel is beautifully maintained, spotless, and designed with both comfort and elegance in mind. The rooms are spacious, modern, and perfectly clean, offering every amenity one could wish for. What truly makes this place outstanding, however, is the staff, especially Khaleed. Every single member of the team was incredibly professional, attentive, and genuinely kind. They went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect, always with a warm smile and a willingness to help with any request. Their hospitality made us feel not just welcome, but truly valued. This combination of an exceptional hotel and a remarkable team creates a stay that is nothing short of unforgettable. I would recommend it without hesitation and will definitely return!

My mum and I stayed 5 nights and had a great stay. The room and the balcony are spacious. Bathroom is good too. We really enjoyed the rooftop top and the beautiful view of the Nile and Luxor on one side and the Valley of the Kings on the other side. The hotel is very close to the public ferry and it’s very easy to cross the Nile. Staff members were very friendly and they always made sure we had everything we needed. Big thank you to Ashraf and Abdel.

The location and facilities were great. It’s a no frills hotel with a good restaurant and a good pool (we did not use it). The rooms were spacious and clean. The staff and management were very nice and helpful. The location is great if you plan to go to the Valley of the Kings and the hot air balloon place.

It’s like visiting a family, warm welcome, relaxed vibe and extremely helpful owners. We received all the possible help and felt cared about. It also felt like being an explorer staying in a very authentic Egyptian house. The room was very specious and the home made breakfast was lovely. The owner is a heartwarming person who has a wide network and is able to organize everything in Luxor (taxi, hot air ballon, and I’m sure the list doesn’t end here). It’s also very important to highlight that the location is very quiet, we managed to get a rest from noisy Egyptian streets and slept like newborns. Strongly recommend!

If you are looking for history, Luxor is the place to be.

If you are looking for history, Luxor is the place to be. Depending on your interests, you can spend a day and a half or more. We arrived in the afternoon, chilled, and then saw the light and sound show at the Karnal temple. The next day, we took a 7-hour private guided tour with lunch, accompanied by an excellent guide. That was sufficient for us. After relaxing in the evening, we left for Cairo. It was time well spent.

It was great to see the historical sites.

It was great to see the historical sites. However, it is a very dirty city. There were piles of garbage and horse droppings everywhere. Taxi drivers and sellers charge prices 3 times higher than normal and push hard for sales. It was tedious.

Luxor is a very relaxed city with lots of historical sites...

Luxor is a very relaxed city with lots of historical sites to visit! People are much more relaxed than Cairo, and they are very friendly and helpful too. There are many other ancient Egyptian sites within driving distance from Luxor that’s not the main stream tourists spots. Tips: always have small notes of EGP with you for tipping!

On the East Side: Karnak Temple is definitely a must.

On the East Side: Karnak Temple is definitely a must. Luxor Temple is ok, if you have time. I wish I had been able to go to the Mummification Museum. On the West Side: Only saw the three tombs (Rameses III, the IV, the IX) that came with the general entrance ticket. They were enough for me. King Tut's tomb still has the mummy, so probably worth the additional fee. Queen Hatshepsut's Temple was just ok. I was expecting something grander, especially after reading The Queen Who Would Be King. More interesting for me were the Workers' village and tombs (must-see and worth the extra admission fee). I could have stayed an extra day just to spend time at the hotel where I stayed for two nights (The New Memnon Hotel, I highly recommend). On the negative side, beware of people asking for tips just about everywhere, but especially the airport (the security screening area, the Egypt Air check-in counter, for heaven's sake!). Visited many key locations in Egypt, and I found Luxor to be the worst in terms of baksheesh. Unfortunately, a bad reflection on Egypt.

Luxor is a lovely town with friendly people.

Luxor is a lovely town with friendly people. Getting around is easy with In Drive app. there are always vehicles available. It's best to use the app, agree the fair upfront to avoid surprises at the end of the trip. For our trip, we booked a fully guided tour of all the temples and sites. This made it so much more relaxed and enjoyable. Options are available on Bookings.com and are reasonably priced. Shops generally did not display prices so be aware of the actual cost of items before shopping around as you might end up paying more than the fair price.

On the east bank, the Luxor and Karnak Temples are a must...

On the east bank, the Luxor and Karnak Temples are a must see. Especially the Karnak Temple was very impressive and big. The souks are nice to get some souvenirs. Shopkeepers are much less pushy than in Cairo, but they will still try to get you into their shop. They won't insist if you don't show interest, which is good. To get to the west bank, there are many boat owners who can be pushy, but there is also the public ferry for 25EGP (you have to insist on this price, as they first asked us 1 USD per person). The kings valley is a must see as well. The queen Hatshepsut temple is nice from the outside, but I found it less worth the entrance fee. I would recommend a hot air balloon ride, as it gave me the best view over the Kings valley, queens valley, queen Hatshepsut temple and other temples, as well as a distant view on the city and surrounding desert and hills/mountains. Taxis / private boats will require some negotiating and also best reserve some money (10%) for tips as it is the standard over there.
