FAQs about hotels in Málaga

The Colourful Soul of the Costa del Sol

The birthplace of Picasso is as colourful as an artist’s palette, from the deep blue of the Mediterranean Sea to the golden sun, which gives 300 days of sunshine per year. When the sun sets, the vibrant nightlife awakens and you’ll find your place amongst the youthful square of the old centre, the trendy bars of La Malagueta or on one of the terraces of Pedregalejo.

There’'s also rich history underneath the sun and fun. Alcazaba is a Moorish castle from the 11th century and just next to it are the remnants of a Roman Theatre. The white stone tower of the Malaga Cathedral rises up in the heart of the city centre, and offers an interesting respite from sun bathing on the magnificent and popular beaches.

A more modern history can be appreciated by visiting the birthplace of Picasso and a museum full of exhibitions by Malaga’s most famous resident. A more relaxed Spanish city than Madrid and Barcelona, Malaga is still the gateway to the Costa del Sol and the busy Malaga Airport is only 10 km from the centre of town.

From budget hostels to 5-star luxury hotels, with Booking.com you’re sure to find the perfect accommodation for your sunny holiday.

Málaga was very nice to visit.

Málaga was very nice to visit. Not to many tourists as one expected which made our visit more relaxing and enjoyable. The old town was very nice and lots of good restaurants and places to visit. Beaches were nice and clean. We all agreed that Málaga is a place that we would like to visit again.

    We didn’t like main beach.

We didn’t like main beach. However really enjoyed the city centre and the harbour area. Unfortunately train station was 50min walk from apartment, so getting out of Malaga wasn’t easy for us . However we did go by train to Granada and Torromellinos. Malaga had good restaurants and bars, lovely shops, art galleries and cathedral and castle.

Malaga is a great place to visit.

Malaga is a great place to visit. It is full of shops, bars and restaurants. There are some beautiful churches. There is a lovely tropical garden that has been really well thought out for the people of the city. You can visit the fortress and the castle on the hill. The new walkway, shops and restaurants near the sea are great to visit, along with the Sunday market. Most places are walkable apart from the botanical gardens which are about a 10 minute drive or bus ride from the centre but worth a visit. There is a bus stop just outside the gardens. There is also a long stretch of beach. It is also a good base for visiting other resorts. I would definitely go back again.

I think 3-4 days in Málaga would be ideal - we had a bit less time. There are some nice central beaches, which are worth visiting. The cathedral is really beautiful and there are some nice tapas bars right next to it, so one can have dinner with a view. Overall delicious food, but, contrary to my expectations, the hotels here are significantly more expensive compared to Marbella or Granada. This surprised me, since Marbella and Granada are way more touristic than Málaga. If we have had some more time, we would have visited Alcazaba and Gabralfaro as well as some museums. Getting normal tickets (without a guided tour) for Caminito del rey seems to be impossible.

The Malagueta beach was very nice, we enjoyed the museums, the restaurants by the beach and also the historical places, even if it was very difficult to reach some of them, the Alcazaba fortress was so high up! We will surely return to Malaga in the future.

A wonderful hotel in every respect, very nice, polite and helpful staff, great breakfasts, many delicious dishes, several types of bread, yogurts, juices, coffee, cakes, a very nice restaurant, clean room, bed made every day, fresh towels every day, several TV programs, also in English, German. A wonderful terrace overlooking the old town of Malaga. Quiet and really very pleasant. Close to everything, great connection to the airport (4 stops by light rail - 15 minutes). Thank you so much. I would highly recommend

We really enjoyed staying here. The flat itself is great, very spacious for two of us and clean with everything you need (except for dishwasher tablets and washing liquid). Having two bathrooms was very helpful and the showers were great. The location is wonderful, in Soho with the old town across the road plus the port and beach a short walk away. Malaga-Centro-Alameda train station is a few minutes away and on a direct line to the airport.

The location is excellent for walking around Malaga city - right beside the old town, lovely part of town, easy access to the beach and port, bars and restaurants within minutes of walking from the Hotel. The roof top area in the Hotel was a lovely place to relax in the afternoon - but get up there before 16.00hrs!!! The best beds will be taken!!
