Avallon is an attractive market town in northern Burgundy. It is immersed in beautiful countryside, and is of a manageable size for walking around, sampling the shops, cafes, and restaurants, and enjoying the Burgundian architecture. It is quiet in May. There are many walks to be had and the restaurant is spacious and superb. There is a large outside space that must be delightful in fine weather. We were able to drive to the wonderful town of Vezelay.
