We stayed Hostel 20, which is a flat 10 minute walk across the bridge to the city center. In the city center, its very similar to other French towns, everyone out having something to eat or drink at all hours of the day. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. Taxi Cab app is what we used if we needed transportation and Uber did not work for us. Bayonne is a great little town. It’s divided by two rivers, giving lots of space to relax or enjoy a drink. The old town is interesting and in good condition. There are many dining options and there are cafes everywhere. Bayonne is a beautiful little town, absolutely adorable. There are loads of nice restaurants and the people are very friendly. There are also a lot of nice little shops, and the market Saturday morning is lovely. You can walk everywhere, but there are also little buses you can ride for free. The rivers in the center are impressive and beautiful, and you can stay looking at the water for hours, especially when the tide water comes up and goes down. We also took a lunch and afternoon trip to Guéthary (that a server at a bar recommended us), a tiny little town by the sea. Beautiful and really nice food.Guest review byMariaFrance - 8.0

Bayonne (Baiona) is a lovely town, very Basque. Great restaurants, and handy for the road south into Spain. BUT: parking is an issue. If you are staying in the centre, the station car park costs upwards of €14.
