Douai is a regional town with historic buildings.
Douai is a regional town with historic buildings. The Musee de la Chartreuse is particularly interesting and historic and has a reasonable collection of European renaissance paintings and french impressionists. An unusual French City in that the Flemish background is very apparent. The old part is attractive but the newer part is not an area that I wanted to walk into. The belfry is magnificent. There are not that many good restaurants but being close to Belgium there is more decent beer than you could possibly drink in a few days. The center of Douai is just few minutes away on foot. The apartment is spacious and comfortable for a family of four, and the kitchen is well equipped for a short stay.
