Perfect sized town for having adequate facilities but without the crowds of Windemere. Well located for Windermere and lots of other destinations...
Well located for Windermere and lots of other destinations because of the good bus routes. It was very clean and the restaurants were very good. Ambleside had plenty going on and it was easy to walk to Lake Windermere and the local park had tennis courts and crazy golf. Loved Ambleside

The hotel was a disappointment. Reception was at the Bar. The receptionist was in a bad mood and had no customer care at all. it seems if he smiled he will get in trouble. Room was not ready until 5pm. the room had no view at all. There was no air conditioning and the weather was so hot.
