Perfect sized town for having adequate facilities but without the crowds of Windemere. Well located for Windermere and lots of other destinations...
Well located for Windermere and lots of other destinations because of the good bus routes. It was very clean and the restaurants were very good. Ambleside had plenty going on and it was easy to walk to Lake Windermere and the local park had tennis courts and crazy golf. The hotel was a disappointment. Reception was at the Bar. The receptionist was in a bad mood and had no customer care at all. it seems if he smiled he will get in trouble. Room was not ready until 5pm. the room had no view at all. There was no air conditioning and the weather was so hot. The staff are all super helpful and friendly. The hotel has a lovely cozy ambiance. The food is very tasty and generous portions are provided with some healthy and vegetarian options available. We just loved our stay. It is also very dog friendly if you have a dog.
