This is the best hotel we have ever stayed in. Every member of staff was exceptionally friendly, professional and helpful. The atmosphere was relaxed, and we felt we were part of the family. We will be returning, and highly recommend that you visit this great hotel. The location is absolutely perfect for exploring the beauty and wildlife of Dartmoor. I cannot find the words to praise the staff at The Dartmoor Lodge enough. Thank you.

Fantastic location very close to Dartmoor, perfect for hiking and exploring the area. Breakfast was simple but of very good quality, even without continental style. Bread, yogurt, fruits and more provided a satisfying start. Being able to eat breakfast on the terrace made for a lovely morning experience. There's a charming church nearby, perfect for a nice short walk in the area.

Ashburton is a charming little town in a beautiful setting, full of character and plenty of independent shops. From jewellery and antique stores to cake and coffee shops, there’s lots to explore. The locals were incredibly friendly, and even the local Spar and Co-op stayed open quite late, which was really convenient.

Overnight stop. We didn't want to stay in central Plymouth. Wifi is difficult in the area. We got lost and couldn't contact hotel, so stopped and asked someone in the village. A map or directions would have been useful. Looked a lovely village, just didn't have time to wander round.

Beautiful town with loads of independently run shops and a couple of restaurants. Great base for day trips further afield too such as the many picturesque beaches that are about 30 minutes by car. Beware of the roads. Incredibly narrow!

The hotel is about half an hour from Plymouth and is an ideal place for an overnight stop before catching the ferry to Santander. However it is surrounded by countryside although situated just off the main road. Other travellers staying were exploring the Dartmoor countryside either on bikes or walking. The staff were very personable and attentive. We had an exceptional meal in the restaurant at night. The breakfast was good and our room was compact but adequate. We would definitely stay again and recommend it to others.

Near to Buckfast Abbey which is well worth a visit and has undergone a thorough restoration. On the very edge of Dartmoor and all the beautiful scenery and walks that it has to offer. Easy access to Plymouth via A38. There is a steam train in Buckfastleigh that runs to Totnes where you can get a boat to Dartmouth. Ashburton is famous for its Antique shops and the village itself is well worth a walk around'

All the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and the whole hotel was very clean. The four poster bedroom was very spacious with a large en-suite containing an enormous room top bath. The hot water was instant, not the quite often give it time to come through. Very peaceful atmosphere with no sound from the very close, but very handy, A38. The WiFi was very good, i was able to watch a Netflix series without any waiting or interruptions. Lovely breakfast, if fact it was so big that I had to start choosing smaller ones every day.

We really really enjoyed our stay here - its extremely homely and cosy and peaceful, in beautiful green surroundings within walking distance to the moors, but also so near to the lovely little town of Ashburton. The host was so friendly and helpful in all our communications. I really enjoyed the use of the wood burner in the evenings, with kindling put out ready for us, so so lovely, and of course the home made gooseberry jam - we put it with a curry instead of mango chutney and it worked really well!! Thank you so much for having us!

Very friendly and welcoming host, Adrian, who was keen to check all was ok for us but not at all intrusive. Beautifully decorated, well-equipped and elegant apartment. Spotless throughout. Extremely comfy bed and bedding. Quick-filling, lovely big bath-tub to soak in at the end of a busy day. And Ashburton itself is a bustling little town, with great eating out options, its own open-air swimming pool, and of course very close to the amazing, wild, open moorlands of Dartmoor!

A perfect stay! I was in Ashburton for business, and the location was perfect with close access to town. I had a lovely, spacious room, which meant I could go through my work bits comfortably, with an abundance of tea at my disposal. Amy and Biff were amazingly kind, helpful, and attentive, plus I had such delicious breakfasts in the mornings. I honestly couldn't fault anything and would heartily recommend.
