We stayed in the honeymoon suite on Hogmanay celebrating our last new year just us before our baby is born. Room was amazing! The hotel is immaculate, the food was excellent and the staff were attentive, we even got engaged during our stay which made it even more memorable and special! We will definitely be back.

It was comfortable and warm in the room, just what I needed for one night. I found a good deal so it was not too pricey. Breakfast was huge, I really enjoyed it and then walked it off. The staff was pleasant. The hotel is amazing and beautiful, the christmas decoration I loved.

We came to visit Ayr racecourse as horse racing enthusiasts.

We came to visit Ayr racecourse as horse racing enthusiasts. The actual course is fine but the buildings are dreadfully run down and facilities poor. From the outside it hardly open and given the time of year there was nothing to entice families off the beach. Poor racecourse management compared to many others we've been to. The town was also rather run down and I can think of no reason to return.

We have visited Ayr many times as we have family in the area. There are some lovely beaches nearby. Brig'o'doon and the Memorial garden definitely worth a visit along with the Burns Museum. Not far north and you are in the lovely town of Troon and less than half an hour inland to the fabulous Dumfries House. Lots of free parking, gardens to walk through, a maze, lovely cafe and a great play park.

Love Ayr, always have, it has so much to see and do, it is definitely a winner when you have the weather on your side. We picked the Western house hotel because of its old style look for the main reception and its location, very central, we had a family wedding to attend at the Brig o Doon, was perfect for us to stay.

Everything was great....wonderful bed, huge room, wonderful restaurant. The ONLY detractor was that, while the rest of the hotel was very clean, our room needed more attention. Overall clean, but a couple places in the bathroom weren't clean. I have to believe that was a one off.

Ayr is half an hour’s drive from Dumfries House and also Culzean Castle, which were the two attractions we visited and enjoyed. Perfect for us on this trip. We ate out locally in the town, was an easy walk from the hotel, and the bus station.

There were some interesting historical buildings in the town which we enjoyed seeing and finding out about eg. St John's Tower, the Wallace tower and statue, the medieval foot bridge. A big attraction of course was the closeness to Alloway - birthplace of Robbie Burns. Public transport to various places and signage/ information/timetables about getting around without own transport was not too good. Ayr railway station was half demolished and being refurbished (in 2025) inconvenient, but railways staff were very helpful - as were all bus drivers. The town itself gave a general air of tiredness with lots of empty shops - unfortunately a state of affairs which many towns seem to be going through.

The apartment is spacious with a lovely view. It's ideally located within easy reach of Ayr town centre and the beach. There are two nice hotels nearby that are open to non-residents that serve good food and have a nice selection of drinks. There is also an Indian restaurant close by where we had a wonderful meal one evening. The apartment has lovely grounds and is a true home from home.
