We loved everything about our stay: the warm welcome we received, the amazing room with a breathtaking view, the tranquility, the best hosts im the world, the cutest dog in Scotland and the tastiest breakfast we've had on our trip through Scotland. Everything was so thought thru by the hosts and they absolutely wanted to make sure that we were feeling comfortable. We instantly felt home and were able to fully relax and recharge our batteries. We are truly glad that we found this rare gem and would definitely recommend and return.

Fairdene Cottage was perfect. So adorable and comfortable. I was able to visit Balmoral and also the Ballater train station with a replica of Queen Victoria's train carriage. I loved everything about the cottage and its location.

Out of our 2 week trip in Scotland this was the best place we stayed at. The kitchen and common room were nice and a good way to meet people and have a chat. The hosts were very kind and helpful and therefore coming here almost felt like coming home. Thanks a lot!

beautiful location, what a amazing B&B! we really enjoyed our stay, everything was great! the breakfast was perfect (the kids thought so too) what a choice, both sweet and savory and lots of it from our own kitchen, pastries, croissants, fresh fruit... delicious! Best breakfast of our holiday. There was a glass of whiskey in the room, but also a bottle of juice and homemade shortbread for the children! you notice that everything has been thought through, the owners want to distinguish themselves and do so in a nice way. It's the little things that stand out and, in our opinion, these are what make this a unique location. sweet, pure and helpful sincere owners who are proud of their beautiful place. always room for a chat and good advice about the area. the rooms are very nice, stylish and spotlessly clean. and congrets with Celtic! recommended! 10/10!!

    Beautiful little town in a stunning location. The town is decorated with the most amazing hanging baskets. Several pubs, all seemed to be busy and offered good value food. The town is ideally located for exploring the beautiful area

    A very scenic town centre.

    A very scenic town centre. A good supermarket and several specialist shops (bookshop especially) . just try and avoid the sweetshop (far too tempting) Several nice restaurants and an excellent fish and chip shop. Bike hire by the old station and easy routes along the old line.

    Ballater is a lovely village.

    Ballater is a lovely village. Very clean and tidy as you would expect being so close to Balmoral Castle. Beautiful hanging baskets outside the shops Plenty of cafes and gift shops. Lovely village green around the Church in the centre of Ballater with seating areas . Free car park and free parking around the Church. Lovely village to visit or stay. We stayed overnight at The Barrel before visiting Balmoral Castle the following day.

    It has been the most wonderful and comfortable place we have...

    It has been the most wonderful and comfortable place we have stayed in on our trip we had been away for 4 weeks and this place by far the very best. Homemade cakes and a great breakfast. Highly recommend to everyone to stay, but you should stay a minimum of two nights.

    Great little town on the eastern edge of the Cairngorms.

    Great little town on the eastern edge of the Cairngorms. Some nice speciality shops, cafes and restaurants. We ate at Angus and Ale - the food was first class.. Ballater makes a perfect base to explore the highlands.

    The hotel was like a home from home, as we were quite a large group and could meet in the lounge area which had comfy sofas and chairs. We were celebrating my husband’s birthday and the staff were very helpful regarding cake etc. Our room was lovely, comfy bed and great shower. There were nice touches ie bathrobes, slippers, crisps, biscuits. Breakfast was delicious with variety of cooked options. Perfect location in centre of Ballater.

    Wonderful staff. Managing to run the hotel efficiently from breakfast to bedtime, and be friendly and helpful too. We loved the massive super-comfy bed. Such an extensive varied menu we ate in every night for the whole week. No hotel car park but we never had any problem parking very nearby. Location is perfect for strolling up the pretty main street to the village green, or exploring one of the waymarked 'Ballater Paths'

    We had the most amazing stay at Cambus O May, so much so that we extended our stay by a night! From the moment we arrived, everything was great. The staff were amazing, so friendly and accommodating, and despite the hotel not having an open kitchen for lunch/ dinner just yet, it really didn't matter - so much selection in neighbouring Ballater! We had the most relaxing time and cannot wait to return again.

    The room was comfy. Breakfast was fabulous, made to order and served by the friendly owners. We had some lovely conversations with them. They are knowledgeable about the area, and suggested great places to eat and explore. The location is right in the centre of town. Lots to explore in Ballater, with Balmoral Castle and Braemar nearby. Take advantage of the walks in the area, too.
