Quaint and very English lovely little town with heaps of natural beauty blending nicely with lots of modern bars alongside the more traditional pubs with their log fires to welcome you in…There is also a wide and varied range of restaurants and check out the Cinema…art-deco with big old plush velour seating…and a half time interval to allow for the ice-cream seller to tempt you with a little pot of indulgence…

Bowness has a charm of its own with the beautiful lake, interesting shops and some very good restaurants. Public transport is very good with regular bus services to Windermere, Ambleside and Grasmere and easy connections for buses to Kendal, Keswick, Coniston and the Langdales.

A place we have been to lots of times when we were children and with my own children, so it was lovely to go just with adults. Plenty to see and do. Lovely places to eat and have a drink or a coffee. Loved the Christmas shop. Bought some Lakeland vodka and rum also.

The scenery in this area is fantastic.

The scenery in this area is fantastic. If you are a keen photographer you will be spoilt for choices. Not just at Windermere, but the surrounding towns, lakes, and walks. These include Windermere, Kendal / Derwent Water and Rydal, etc. Bowness has a good selection of places to eat and drink during the day and evening. The town also has a good selection of shops which include well known names and brands.

We visited the lake and went on the boat trip.

We visited the lake and went on the boat trip. It is the 3 rd time I have been here but the last visit was 10 years ago, so much has changed and there is now not as much to see on that same boat trip. Such a shame. We ate in a local cafe or rather my husband did. He loved the cafe just off the boat that sold home made massive millionaires shortbread, the highlight of his day hahah this cafe was at the opposite end of the lake from the main side of the lake.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Fellview. The owners are so friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. Our room was spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated, and we had a great night's sleep. Very central location, only a few minutes walk down the road to Bowness on Windermere. Free parking outside the guest house. We would 100% recommend and look forward to staying again soon.
