This is absolutely the best place to stay on Islay. Centrally located, super easy to get everywhere from here. The staff are without exception wonderful, friendly, charming, informative, and just great. Can’t say enough about the complimentary breakfast. It is a really good way to wake up and get ready for a day on the island.

I absolutely loved staying here, but it won’t be for everyone. This former stately home is only half renovated with large areas still to be finished. I was a bit concerned before checking in about other reviews saying it wasn’t very clean but our room was spotless with a huge roll too bath and marble floors. The beds were soooo comfy. Some other comunal areas were a little tired so perhaps they could be cleaner but they are the rooms that are awaiting renovation and it’s more wear than dirt that’s the problem. Despite some small niggles Islay House has so much history and the building itself is stunning. Perfectly situated, quiet, peaceful and great views. Ali the main ‘concierge’ (if you can call him that as it’s really more of a b&b) was affable and helpful always, even showing me the buildings plans because I was asking about the closed off areas. If I ever go back to Islay I will 100% stay there again. The breakfast absolutely slapped, by far the best we had anywhere on our trip.

Nice and easy to find, with plenty on street parking available. Very comfortable room, bed was really comfy. Bar and restaurant were also very good. Breakfast was amazing.

It was spotless clean, beds absolutely comfortable, had the best sleep, the food from the breakfast has everything you need, and the staff was incredibly nice, one of the best b&b I have ever stayed (Also nice quality shampoos and lotions)

Everything was wonderful. Emma and Graeme were the perfect hosts in a beautifully crafted space. The food - breakfast and dinner was superb. The bed comfortable with soft sheets.

Islay is a beautiful place, we could have spent another week...

Islay is a beautiful place, we could have spent another week there to fully enjoy the island and the locale. We were focused on whiskey (uisge beatha) but also enjoyed local walks, the woolen mill and local restaurants. Booking is recommended for any meal you're eating in a restaurant. Also if self catering - there are only a couple of Co-op stores (no big supermarket). You can feed yourself but choice is limited.

Went for New Year 2022-23.

Went for New Year 2022-23. Definitely need a car to get about. Locals are so friendly, helpful and welcoming. Not much open due to Festive period. 15 min drive to Coop in Bowmore or the shop at Bridgend 7mins was open. The weather was lovely and there are some lovely walks and wildlife to be seen. If looking for ancestors there are plenty of graveyards to be visited on Islay. LOL.

A fantastic island with stunning scenery.

A fantastic island with stunning scenery. The people are very friendly, and even if your English isn't great, they're happy to help. A visit is a must for whisky lovers. Hikers will also absolutely love it.
