It was clear from the moment I walked into the Wheatsheaf that great care and effort had gone into creating a convivial welcoming atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and efficient and our room was warm, clean and comfortable. Dinner and breakfast were delicious with a good range of choices. Lovely inn with lots of character located in a pretty little village. Room comfortable and staff friendly and helpful. Service exceptional. Meals delicious and they certainly don't skimp on portions! Carperby is a quaint village, the locals were extremely friendly & helpful. Quite a historical place. Always respect the Farmers land when walking the route to the Aysgarth Falls, keep your dogs on a lead (under control) so as not to frighten the sheep, lambs, cows & calves etc it’s absolutely stunning scenery. Carperby is a good centre for the Yorkshire Dales in general, with its interesting villages, "Herriot" locations, Aysgarth Falls, characterful pubs, scenery, Bolton Castle, Wensleydale Railway, and so on.
